Brotherhood of the Wolf<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Silent Hill\u00a0director Christophe Gans\u2019 new\u00a0Silent Hill\u00a0movie\u00a0Return to Silent Hill, which is said to be \u201ctotally independent from the two previous movies,\u201d recently secured a U.S. distribution deal with entertainment studio Cineverse and is heading for a\u00a0January 23, 2026\u00a0theatrical release. Now, a promo video has dropped online to give us some behind the scenes information of the film\u2019s score, which was composed by Akira Yamaoka, who also composed the scores for many of the games in the video game franchise. The video can be viewed in the embed at the bottom of this article.<\/p>\n

Gans directed the 2006 version of\u00a0Silent Hill\u00a0from a screenplay he wrote with\u00a0Roger Avary<\/a>\u00a0and Nicolas Boukhrief, and directed this new film from a screenplay he wrote with Sandra Vo-Anh and Will Schneider. Based on the video game\u00a0Silent Hill 2,\u00a0Return to Silent Hill\u00a0follows\u00a0James, a man broken after being separated from his one true love. When a mysterious letter calls him back to Silent Hill in search of her, he finds a once-recognizable town transformed by an unknown evil. As James descends deeper into the darkness, he encounters terrifying figures both familiar and new and begins to question his own sanity as he struggles to make sense of reality and hold on long enough to save his lost love.<\/p>\n

The film stars Jeremy Irvine (Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again)\u00a0and Hannah Emily Anderson (Jigsaw).<\/p>\n

Return to Silent Hill\u00a0was produced by Victor Hadida, Molly Hassell, and David Wulf. When the project was heading into production, Gans provided the following statement: \u201cReturn to Silent Hill\u00a0is a mythological love story about someone so deeply in love, they\u2019re willing to go to Hell to save someone. I\u2019m delighted to have the wonderful talents of both Jeremy Irvine and Hannah Emily Anderson take us on this journey into a psychological horror world that I hope will both satisfy and surprise fans of\u00a0Silent Hill.\u201c Hadida added: \u201cChristophe and I have been working closely with our partners at KONAMI, as they update the video game, to also create a version of\u00a0Silent Hill\u00a0for the theatrical audiences of today. You will still find the iconic monsters \u2013 but there will also be new designs. We are confident that this new film and KONAMI\u2019s updated game together will propel the\u00a0Silent Hill\u00a0franchise forward for years to come.\u201c<\/p>\n
