Given it\u2019s been two weeks since we had a game, it\u2019s worth reminding you that the Fantasy Premier League deadline is coming up, 11am BST today. Heading into Gameweek 8 there are big decisions to be made on the high-ticket players: Cole Palmer is out for six weeks, Mo Salah has endured some mixed returns and Arsenal change their attack every other game these days.<\/p>\n
So do you splash out on the in-form Erling Haaland and bank on his goal streak going on and on? Crystal Palace are surely the team to be mined for FPL talent at the moment. Daniel Mu\u00f1oz brings in some attacking returns from defence, Isma\u00efla Sarr looks underpriced at \u00a36.5m and Jean-Phillipe Mateta is that rare thing \u2013 a striker you can guarantee will start every week and score goals.<\/p>\n

The owner sounds like a right idiot and I feel sympathy for the players at the club who gave so much last season and who simply ran out of steam at the end.<\/p>\n There is plenty of Nottingham Forest talk in the comments today. It seems the general consensus among fans is that the main problem is not the manager, but instead the owner, Evangelos Marinakis.<\/p>\n Forest supporter here who remembers the Clough glories. What is happening Forest today represents all that is wrong with modern football, especially the PL. Egotistical billionaire’s treating treasured local clubs as playthings, or Gulf states spending petrol dollars to sports wash their tyranny. We should follow the German model and give 55% of control to fans. Sack the owners not the managers.<\/p>\n Unai Emery is preparing for a \u201chuge challenge\u201d when his Aston Villa side travel to Tottenham on Sunday. Villa failed to win any of their first five Premier League games, but went into the October international break having won two in a row in the league and four in all competitions.<\/p>\n They now take on a Spurs side who have only lost once in 10 matches in all competitions since the start of the season, and Emery believes it will be a test of his side\u2019s progress.<\/p>\n \u201cTottenham is one of the contender teams to be in the top seven,\u201d he said. \u201cLast year they didn\u2019t achieve it, but of course this year they are really playing fantastic, getting good results, they are now in the top with 14 points, and playing at home, they are feeling strong. Chelsea have tried to manage the 23-year-old\u2019s groin injury with rest and are confident it does not need surgery but Maresca has dashed hopes of his most influential player making a swift return.<\/p>\n \u201cUnfortunately he needs to be out for another six weeks,\u201d Chelsea\u2019s head coach said as he prepared for his side\u2019s trip to Nottingham Forest on Saturday. \u201cWe try to protect Cole as much as we can. Photograph: John Walton\/PAShare<\/a>Gu\u00e9hi confirms plan to leave Palace<\/p>\n Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner revealed last night that club captain Marc Gu\u00e9hi will leave Selhurst Park at the end of the season. Guehi came close to joining Liverpool in a \u00a335m transfer on deadline day before the deal collapsed at the last minute. He will now leave as a free agent next summer.<\/p>\n Glasner said: \u201cI think Marc has already told us that he doesn\u2019t sign a new contract, so he will leave next year. The club wanted [him to stay]. They offered Marc a new contract. But he said, \u2018no, I want to make something different\u2019. And that\u2019s normal.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd for us, it\u2019s how we can deal with this situation? [What] is the best way to get this next step done?
