On the 19th of October, the European season comes to a close, and one of the races that brings it to an end is the Chrono des Nations<\/a>, one of the calendar’s most traditional races and the only one-day time trial race that isn’t integrated in some championships. We take a look at its profile and preview<\/a> the race.<\/p>\n

One of the longest time trials of the season, specially when it comes to top level racing. This will take place in Les Herbiers and features races of many categories, but in the men’s elite the distance will be 45 kilometers, almost completely flat and a perfect test for the specialists to close out their season. This means that the profile favours the specialists, and although we’re missing the likes of Remco Evenepoel or Filippo Ganna who would be obvious favourites to take the win on such a course, we have a few men that stand out from the rest.<\/p>\n

The question though will be if Jay Vine<\/a>, silver medal at the World Championships, will be able to put out the necessary power on the flat roads to make something magical happen. He certainly can, if he continues to carry great form, but the course does suit better the powerhouse men such as Joshua Tarling<\/a> and Stefan K\u00fcng<\/a>. Tarling is going to ultimately be the favourite because not only does the course suit him but he is purely the strongest pure time trialist in this startlist. The likes of Mikkel Bjerg, Soren Waerenskjold and R\u00e9mi Cavagna could also be outsider in the fight for the medals.<\/p>\n
