Film fans have been granted the opportunity to watch Emma Stone<\/a>\u2019s latest film for free \u2013 but only if they\u2019re prepared to shave their head for the pleasure.<\/p>\n

Emma, 36, stars in the new film from auteur Yorgos Lanthimos<\/a>, based on the 2003 South Korean comedy-thriller Save The Green Planet!<\/p>\n

In Bugonia, Emma plays high-powered CEO Michelle Fuller \u2013 who is kidnapped by two conspiracy theorists (Jesse Plemons and Aidan Delbis) when they become convinced that she is an alien<\/a> invader.<\/p>\n

One of the many indignities visited upon Michelle (which also include being strapped to a table, gagged and forced to undergo electroshock therapy) involves the forced shaving of her head.<\/p>\n

The film is scheduled for a limited release on October 24 in the USA, before a wider release on October 31, and dropping in the UK on November 7.<\/p>\n

However, moviegoers in Los Angeles <\/a>can see it even earlier than that \u2013 if they\u2019re either bald or willing to shave their heads first.<\/p>\n

As reported by local Instagram<\/a> account DoLa<\/a>, the Culver Theater in LA is offering brave film fans a chance to attend a sneak preview of Bugonia.<\/p>\n

\u2018Are you bald, or willing to shave your head?\u2019 reads the post, accompanied by an image of Emma in all her recently-shaved glory. <\/p>\n

\u2018On Monday, 10\/20, head to @theculvertheater for a FREE advanced screening of @bugoniafilm \u2013 the new @focusfeatures fever dream from Yorgos Lanthimos, starring Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018Have hair? A barber will be on-site starting at 6PM to shave it all off \ud83e\ude92\ud83d\udc87\u200d\u2640\ufe0f Screening starts at 8PM. This is real. And yes, part of it will be filmed.\u2019<\/p>\n

In the comments below the post, filmgoers were tickled by this eccentric approach to film publicity.<\/p>\n

Bugonia marks Emma\u2019s latest collaboration with the Greek<\/a> filmmaker, after previously starring in his films The Favourite, Poor Things, and Kinds of Kindness.<\/p>\n

Emma scored a Best Actress Academy Award<\/a> for her performance as Bella Baxter in Poor Things, fending off Lily Gladstone and Carey Mulligan at that year\u2019s ceremony.<\/p>\n

\u2018The vulnerability of it, the sensitivity and the humor of it \u2014 it\u2019s just so difficult to do. I just don\u2019t know how she did it,\u2019 said Yorgos of Emma\u2019s performance while at the New York<\/a> Film Festival last year.<\/p>\n

Bugonia has already emerged with strong word of mouth following its premiere at the Venice Film Festival and critics\u2019 screening in London.<\/p>\n

Metro\u2019s own Tori Brazier described the film as Emma and Yorgos\u2019s \u2018boldest, oddest collaboration yet,\u2019<\/a> adding: \u00a0\u2018It might be one of Lanthimos\u2019s most normal-looking movies on the surface \u2014 and a remake, to boot \u2013 but don\u2019t let that fool you into thinking he\u2019s lost any of his unique edge.\u2019<\/p>\n

Bugonia currently boasts a score of 90% \u2018fresh\u2019 on review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes, only compounding the sense of anticipation for UK audiences.<\/p>\n

Of portraying Michelle, Emma described it as \u2018weirdly very challenging,\u2019 having expected to have spent the whole film strapped down to a cot.<\/p>\n

\u2018Apparently, she\u2019s a very physical gal!\u2019 she added.<\/p>\n

And yet, despite all the tortures her character suffers, it was the performance itself<\/a> which proved toughest for Emma.<\/p>\n

\u2018I think [the biggest challenge was] just trying to weave her story so that it makes sense the second time as well!\u2019 Emma said.<\/p>\n

Bugonia is released in UK cinemas on November 7, 2025.<\/p>\n
