She is still a maiden but it won’t be for long.

REDSTONE WELL (8th, race 3)

It was always going to be likely he’d find these a bit too sharp resuming over a mile. His return still had plenty of merit and he will improve up in ground.

IDLE FLYER (1st, race 4)

She’s a progressive mare that is going through her grades nicely, covering ground to win again. Keen to stay with her whether it’s in Sydney or Melbourne next time.

CABALLUS (5th, race 6)

A wide draw cost him the chance of landing anywhere near the speed but he closed off in brilliant fashion first-up from a spell. You’d love to see him end up in a race like The Hunter next month.

SABAJ (6th, race 8)

Looked to have plenty to offer first-up in the Silver Eagle when he raced without a lot of room for much of the straight. His work through the line was excellent.

STEWARDS SAY

Sam Hawkens (race 2): It was jockey James McDonald’s view that the import wasn’t suited by leading and appeared to lose concentration. He was found to be slow to recover.

Compelling Truth (race 5): Bled from both nostrils for the first time and is now banned from racing for three months.

So Magnificent (race 5): Bred from both nostrils for the second time and is no longer along to race in Australia.

Golden Mile (race 6): A post-race veterinary examination found the gelding to be coughing and he will undergo an endoscopic examination.

Beauty Charge (race 6): Lowered its head as the gates opened and missed the start. Will be required before racing again.

Lake Forest (race 9): Copped interference that result in Pericles’ jockey Josh Parr coping a careless riding ban. Was found to have an abrasion to the near-fore heel bulb post-race.

Within The Law (race 9): Blood found present in one nostril.

CRUNCH TIME

Clear Thinking (race 5): A well-executed steer and class edge helped her win the Kosciuszko. Her race best splits of 10.82 and 10.92 seconds between the 600m and 200m proved decisive, finishing the last 600m in 33.52.

Caballus (race 5): Went back from a wide draw before rattling off a slick last 600m of 32.74 seconds to finish fifth. It included race best splits for the final three furlongs of 10.85. 10.48 and 11.41.

Ka Ying Rising (race 7): Pouncing from a prominent spot, he got the upper hand with a race-best 10.70 seconds split from the 400m to 200m. Less than half a second split separated the last 600m splits of first eight runners with the winner clocking 33.32.

Ceolwulf (race 9): Surged home from slightly worse than midfield to win with a last 600m of 33.95 seconds. Only eighth placegetter Yellow Brick (33.94) ran the same split better.

TRACK TALK

“It’s certainly the biggest thrill in my life. It’s been the longest ten days in my life I think.” Trainer David Hayes when Ka Ying Rising won The Everest.

“To have one champion I rode in my career, I thought, that was unbelievable for me and now to have one come along that could be even better, right at this moment it really does hit home.” Ka Ying Rising’s jockey Zac Purton.

“12 months ago I thought here he is, the best horse I’ll ever train and we spent another 12 months waiting to see that again.” Trainer Joe Pride after Ceolwulf’s King Charles III Stakes defence.

“That was absolutely amazing. I watched it down there with my two daughters who never come to the racetrack, so it was really special.” Pride again.

“I’m not normally lost for words but this is so emotional. I said to a couple of mates including Kelly Schwieda I’d never cry on national TV but this horse, to do what he’s done, he’s done it from the outside alley.” Trainer Rob Heathcote after Rothfire’s Sydney Stakes triumph.

“There will be a bit of money behind the bar tonight at the RSL I can tell you that, it will be going wild up there.” Clear Thinking’s trainer Paul Messara on his return to Scone.

THIS WEEK IN NSW RACING

Monday: Muswellbrook

Tuesday: Grafton

Wednesday: Warwick Farm

Thursday: Hawkesbury

Friday: Scone, Canberra

Saturday: Royal Randwick, Kembla Grange, Mudgee, Casino, Albury, Armidale

Sunday: Port Macquarie, Coonabarabran

RON DUFFICY’S ROYAL RANDWICK SNAPSHOT

RUN OF THE DAY

Ka Ying Rising accepted the challenge and really secured his spot as the best sprinter in the world with an authoritative win in the Tab Everest.

We can only hope the rest of the world takes up the challenge to take us on again.

FORGET THEY RAN

Linebacker was a dominant winner of the Silver Eagle and he was a deserved winner but the marketplace said Sabaj would run well and that he did just that with no luck at all.

He looks a very nice horse moving forward.

THE BLACK BOOK

I’m not sure what the plan is now but Sabaj has certainly captured my attention now while I really like the way Idle Flyer is trending moving forward as she is very talented and still improving.

RIDE OF THE DAY

The two Zac’s had a nice day out but Tyler Schiller was great on the well fancied Clear Thinking in the Kosciusko with a brilliant patient ride from the wide draw.

News Corp racing expert Mitch Cohen has analysed all the chances and found a few worth following from…

[40
428,7614,90881,90871,90877,90875,90869,50678,90872,90878,90870,90876,51042,90879,56592,84168,1328,8216,44538,90885,7613,90882,7618,90888,90883,90880,7611,7617,12032,3004,46984,90887,101,1288,80879,90874,90884,56,54,55,90886,5536,70756,56597,90873,77231
post-211086","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-racing","tag-australia","tag-australia-and-new-zealand","tag-authoritative-win","tag-brilliant-fashion-first-up","tag-careless-riding-ban","tag-clear-running","tag-covering-ground","tag-david-hayes","tag-deserved-winner","tag-dominant-winner","tag-golden-mile","tag-heel-bulb-post-race","tag-james-mcdonald","tag-joe","tag-josh-parr","tag-kembla-grange","tag-king-charles","tag-melbourne","tag-mitch-cohen","tag-near-fore-heel-bulb","tag-new-south-wales","tag-nice-day","tag-oceania","tag-port-macquarie-hastings","tag-post-race-veterinary-examination","tag-prominent-spot","tag-punters-racing","tag-racenet-nsw","tag-racenet-saturday-racing","tag-racing","tag-scone","tag-silver-eagle-company","tag-sports","tag-sydney","tag-trainer-david-hayes","tag-trainer-joe-pride","tag-tyler-schiller","tag-uk","tag-united-kingdom","tag-unitedkingdom","tag-upper-hand","tag-victoria","tag-warwick-farm","tag-wide-draw","tag-winner-clocking","tag-zac-purton
["GET
