Carlos Sainz dropped from United States GP Sprint race hero to zero in the main grand prix after retiring after colliding with Kimi Antonelli.\u00a0<\/p>\n
At Turns 15 and 16 on Lap 16, Sainz attempted to dive to the apex of the tight left-hander, but Antonelli swept in to take his normal racing line – and was biffed backwards in the gravel as Sainz’s front-wing was destroyed.<\/p>\n
The Spanish racer, who finished third in the Sprint, promptly retired after the contact as Antonelli continued on, with the stewards set to investigate the incident after the race.<\/p>\n
Antonelli is still running despite the damage sustained.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Elsewhere, no further action was taken against Alex Albon and Gabriel Bortoleto for contact in which the Williams spun on the first lap, whilst Esteban Ocon was cleared of a potential jump start after a quick investigation by the stewards.<\/p>\n
