{"id":214655,"date":"2025-10-21T04:21:14","date_gmt":"2025-10-21T04:21:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/214655\/"},"modified":"2025-10-21T04:21:14","modified_gmt":"2025-10-21T04:21:14","slug":"lennox-lewis-predicts-gennady-golovkin-vs-prime-marvin-hagler-fight-hed-be-too-much","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/214655\/","title":{"rendered":"Lennox Lewis Predicts Gennady Golovkin vs Prime Marvin Hagler Fight: &#8220;He&#8217;d Be Too Much&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Heavyweight great <a href=\"https:\/\/www.secondsout.com\/topic\/lennox-lewis\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Lennox Lewis<\/a> once predicted the outcome of a fantasy match-up between <a href=\"https:\/\/www.secondsout.com\/topic\/gennady-golovkin\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Gennady Golovkin<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.secondsout.com\/topic\/marvin-hagler\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Marvin Hagler<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Golovkin and Hagler both enjoyed considerable success throughout the course of their respective professional careers, both reigning as unified middleweight champion for a number of years.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/the-making-of-marvelous-marvin-hagler\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Hagler held the undisputed middleweight championship for seven years between 1980 and 1987<\/a>, making no less than twelve successful defences of his crown before he was eventually dethroned by Sugar Ray Leonard.<\/p>\n<p>As for Golovkin, the Kazakh icon dominated at 160lbs throughout the 2010s, reigning as the champion on two separate occasions between 2014 and 2023 where he racked up victories over the likes of Kell Brook, Danny Jacobs and Ryota Murata.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to Boxing Scene, former undisputed heavyweight king Lewis shared his thoughts on what he believes would have happened had Golovkin faced a prime version of Hagler.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know Hagler\u2019s my man. He\u2019s got too much [for Golovkin]. He boxes on the inside and the out.
