Jermell Charlo wants to be the next man opposite Terence Crawford in the ring.<\/p>\n

Crawford [42-0] defeated Canelo Alvarez to claim the undisputed super middleweight crown<\/a>, on September 13.<\/p>\n

As he claimed a unanimous decision win over Canelo, ‘Bud’ also became the first male three-weight undisputed champion of the four-belt era<\/a>.<\/p>\n

His recent success cemented him as one of the hottest names on the professional scene. <\/p>\n

It saw him facing plenty of call-outs for his next outing, including one from the former undisputed super-welterweight champion, Charlo.<\/p>\n

The Texas native was last seen in 2023, when he moved up to challenge for Canelo’s undisputed crown at super middleweight.<\/p>\n

While Charlo was comprehensively beaten by the Mexican, Crawford peaked the interest of ‘Iron Man’ as he managed to do just that when they shared the ring last month.<\/p>\n

Charlo said via social media, on Saturday: \u201cIt would be an honor to get in the ring with [Crawford]. <\/p>\n

“As becoming undisputed, he completed something that I didn’t. <\/p>\n

“Being in the ring with Crawford would be amazing. <\/p>\n

“I would give him the best fight of today\u2019s era.<\/p>\n

“I don’t think there is any other fight out there in the boxing world for Crawford to make right now.<\/p>\n

“The best fight really, would be me. The best fight with Boots is me, the best fight with Crawford is me.”<\/p>\n

What is Terence Crawford’s likely next move?<\/p>\n

Crawford is naturally assessing his options for his first undisputed title defense, and he is definitely not short of options.<\/p>\n

He has even teased an appearance<\/a> to chase the world title at middleweight, as it remains the only division from lightweight to super middleweight that he is yet to dominate.<\/p>\n

That could be a strong option, should he opt to remain active.<\/p>\n

The Nebraska native appears to be toying with the idea of retiring, but has yet to confirm his official decision.<\/p>\n

If Crawford retires, as the current best pound-for-pound boxer<\/a> in the sport, it would be a classic example of a legend going out while on top.<\/p>\n
