If this was implemented, pensioners would receive a higher tax-exempt limit, but wealthier pensioners would still pay tax. We think that people with small private or workplace pensions are currently being taxed unfairly.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Once a\u00a0petition\u00a0reaches 10,000 signatures, the Government responds, and if\u00a0100,000\u00a0people sign, a debate in Parliament is considered.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">This petition currently has 2,478\u00a0signatures, and signatures can still be <a href=\"https:\/\/petition.parliament.uk\/petitions\/740671?ref=ed_direct\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:added here;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">added here<\/a> .<\/p>\n<p>What is the Personal Tax Allowance?<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The standard Personal Allowance is \u00a312,570, which is the amount of income you do not have to pay tax on.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">It decreases if\u00a0your income is over \u00a3100,000.
