Liverpool have been handed an injury boost with Arne Slot allaying fears over Ryan Gravenberch’s twisted ankle. Gravenberch was forced off shortly after the hour of Sunday’s 2-1 Premier League defeat at home to Manchester United after twisting his ankle when challenging visiting midfielder Casemiro.

The Holland international underwent tests the following day to ascertain the extent of the damage and was absent from the Reds squad that flew out on Tuesday afternoon for the Champions League clash at Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday.

But Slot doesn’t expect Gravenberch to be sidelined for a significant period of time and has refused to rule him out of Saturday evening’s Premier League trip to Brentford.

READ MORE: Liverpool set to avoid UEFA fine after Eintracht Frankfurt plans thrown into disarrayREAD MORE: Liverpool press conference cancelled as club release statement

“Ryan is not available for the Frankfurt game, hopefully he will be available at the weekend,” the Liverpool head coach said.

“But it’s an ankle injury, we have to wait and see, give him a bit of time and see where he is when we come back from Frankfurt.

“He has such a particular quality in our squad, which we’ve seen when we played Bournemouth for example, when we played the Community Shield – that we missed a little bit of a player that was always protecting our back four.”

Gravenberch’s imminent availability is a major boost for Slot with Liverpool in the midst of a potentially season-defining run of seven games in 22 days.

After Brentford comes a run of three home games in three different competitions against Crystal Palace in the League Cup, Aston Villa in the Premier League and Real Madrid in the Champions League.

The Reds then travel to Manchester City ahead of the November international break in a clash between the last two champions.

Liverpool continue to be without hamstrung goalkeeper Alisson Becker while teenage centre-back Giovanni Leoni is out for the season after ACL surgery.

However, Wataru Endo is available after being absent at the weekend with the hamstring problem that forced him out of duty for Japan during the recent international break.

Liverpool travelling squad: Gomez, Endo, Van Dijk, Konate, Kerkez, Wirtz, Szoboszlai, Isak, Mac Allister, Salah, Bradley, Chiesa, Jones, Gakpo, Ekitike, Mamardashvili, Robertson, Woodman, Frimpong, Ngumoha, Misciur.

Watch Eintracht Frankfurt vs Liverpool on TNT Sports

This article contains affiliate links, we will receive a commission on any sales we generate from it.
