This week, Remember Monday usher in a brand-new era with Happier. Co-written with Billen Ted<\/a>\u00a0during the band’s Eurovision sessions, the track teams their trademark theatrics with some slick pop production we can expect from Remember Monday 2.0; and they’ve only gone and given us a sneaky First Listen.<\/p>\n

\"Remember<\/p>\n

“I’ve dried my eyes. I’ve cried a river, cried a sea, believe me. Oh, I spent so many nights just wide awake, going over all the things I wanna say. So if you’ve got a moment to spare, there’s something that I wanna share…”<\/p>\n

From its opening chords, Happier could be mistaken for The Winner Takes It All’s younger sister; a melancholic tale of love lost over a haunting piano riff. Then comes the plot twist.<\/p>\n

Less than a minute in, Happier switches course completely. It quickly becomes apparent the broken-hearted woman is no more. In her place? A defiant force with sh*t to say.<\/p>\n

“I love that the beginning is so dramatic; you think it\u2019s going to go a certain way, then we\u2019re like \u2018nah, forget it \u2013 we\u2019re going to be us again!'”, Holly jokes.<\/p>\n

This is where we witness the makings of Remember Monday 2.0.<\/p>\n

Over a breezy instrumental, the band assure us: “I’m happy you’re gone, do what you want, baby I’m the only one that’s turning me on. I’m so happy, are you happy for me?”<\/p>\n

In their own words, “Happier is about the wonderful point where you\u2019ve made it through the seven stages of grief after a break-up and you\u2019ve just hit pure joy, knowing that you\u2019ve left the idiot behind.”<\/p>\n

Its tongue-in-cheek lyrics certainly reflect this newfound confidence, too. The group’s personal favourite? “You said we should stay friends at the end. Well, I’d rather break both of my legs!”<\/p>\n

\"Remember<\/p>\n

An undeniable earworm, Happier shares similarities with\u00a0Sabrina Carpenter<\/a>‘s Manchild<\/a> in its carefree, country-pop leaning production, obviously with some killer harmonies thrown in for good measure.<\/p>\n

Fans needn’t worry the drama and theatrical flourishes so synonymous Remember Monday are gone, though. Happier seamlessly marries the old and the new; elevating the sound the band have worked so hard to craft.<\/p>\n
