It\u2019s an Absolutely Fabulous Christmas<\/a> for comedy<\/a> fans \u2014 Jennifer Saunders<\/a> and Joanna Lumley<\/a> are officially reuniting on screen for the first time in nearly a decade.<\/p>\n

The BBC<\/a> has confirmed that Amandaland<\/a>, the Motherland spin-off starring Lucy Punch and Philippa Dunne, will return for a festive special.<\/p>\n

Lumley will once again be joined by her longtime comedy partner, Jennifer Saunders, delighting fans. <\/p>\n

Lumley, who plays the formidable Felicity in the sitcom, first hinted at the news on \u2018The Chris Evans<\/a> Breakfast Show\u2019 earlier this month. <\/p>\n

Now, the BBC has officially announced that the Christmas special is in production. <\/p>\n

Saunders will be stepping into the role of Felicity\u2019s sister, Aunt Joan, who is described as \u2018a ball of country-living, enthusiastic upper-class bluster [and] very, very different from Felicity.\u2019<\/p>\n

The reunion marks the first time the duo have shared the screen since the 2016 Absolutely Fabulous movie, where they last embodied the iconic Edina and Patsy \u2014 the hard-drinking, fashion-obsessed best friends who defined a generation of British comedy.<\/p>\n

Writers Holly Walsh and Laurence Rickard described Saunders as \u2018the perfect addition to the gang,\u2019 while Lucy Punch promised fans a gloriously over-the-top festive treat. <\/p>\n

She said: \u2018The Christmas special is going to be an absolute cracker \u2013 it\u2019s like totes fire, with all the festive feels, for reals. Slay bells!\u2019<\/p>\n

Between Lumley\u2019s polished wit and Saunders\u2019 razor-sharp timing, the Amandaland Christmas episode looks set to be one of the BBC\u2019s must-watch festive highlights \u2014 and a long-awaited reunion of two comedy legends whose chemistry remains, well, absolutely fabulous.<\/p>\n
