Super League could be set to have a brand-new half-back added to it\u2019s ranks, with an NRL playmaker reportedly agreeing to make the move overseas in a \u201cmulti-year\u201d deal.<\/p>\n

The move comes about following a lengthy transfer saga Down Under, which has involved the future of Melbourne Storm playmaker, Jonah Pezet.<\/p>\n

He is set to sign a deal with Parramatta Eels, as coach Jason Ryles looks to build a younger squad that can bond and compete together for years to come.<\/p>\n

However, Pezet\u2019s move to the Eels has had a knock-on effect on other players\u2019 futures, and it has meant offloading more people in the squad in order for him to fit.<\/p>\n

In the past few years, we have seen the Eels clear out a heap of players that have gone on to join clubs overseas, with Maika Sivo and Joe Ofahengaue already making the move, whilst Reagan Campbell-Gillard and new Toulouse signing Brendan Hands<\/a> will both arrive this off-season.<\/p>\n

One of those players who could be on the outer because of the transfer is Dean Hawkins. The half-back is reported to exit the club and take up an opportunity in Super League, should a deal with Pezet be agreed.<\/p>\n

The report comes from The Sydney Morning Herald<\/a>, who say that the 26-time NRL player will be joining the Northern Hemisphere competition next year, after being \u201cgranted a release to pursue a long-term deal in the English Super League.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hawkins made his first-grade debut with South Sydney Rabbitohs in 2021, before making a switch to the Eels ahead of this season. He has filled in for international stars Mitchell Moses and Dylan Brown on 12 occasions this campaign.<\/p>\n

The report does not state a club in particular, however there are bound to be multiple clubs that would love to add an NRL-quality half-back to their squad.<\/p>\n
