Cadbury fans might notice that certain tubs of Heroes look rather different this Christmas<\/a> \u2013 but it will all depend on where you shop.<\/p>\n That\u2019s because the chocolate<\/a> brand is trialling new paper tubs of the sweets, but only in select Tesco<\/a> stores.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n Cadbury\u2019s owner, Mondelez International<\/a>, has teamed up with packaging company DS Smith to create 300,000 paper tubs as part of the business\u2019 efforts to reduce its use of virgin plastic.<\/p>\n And if that weren\u2019t enough of a change, Cadbury is also \u2018temporarily\u2019 shaking up the Heroes assortment for the paper tubs, with a classic chocolate being swapped for something new.<\/p>\n For the first time ever, Cadbury Flake will be joining the likes of Dinky Deckers, Creme Egg Twisted, Wispa and Dairy Milk Caramel in the mix.<\/p>\n \t\t But there is a bit of a catch\u2026<\/p>\n In order to make this change, Cadbury is swapping out a classic treat from the selection, and it\u2019s bad news if you\u2019re a fan of the Eclairs.<\/p>\n That\u2019s because the Flake is going to be replacing Eclairs in the paper tubs. So if you enjoy that particular sweet, you\u2019ll want to make sure you\u2019re buying your Heroes in a regular plastic tub and not the paper one.<\/p>\n If you\u2019re not familiar with Eclairs, these see chewy caramel wrapped in Cadbury milk chocolate and they\u2019ve featured in the mix for the last 17 years.<\/p>\n It was first introduced in Heroes tubs in 2008 to replace Dream chocolates when they were axed.<\/p>\n \t\t The new paper tubs featuring Flake will be available for a limited-time in Tesco stores from late October.<\/p>\n Speaking about the trial, Christina Bland, brand manager for Cadbury<\/a>, said: \u2018The Heroes paper tub trial represents a step in our active work to explore new packaging solutions for our portfolio. <\/p>\n \u2018This trial will inform our long-term packaging approach, and we are also excited to introduce Cadbury Flake to the assortment for this trial, offering a new favourite for consumers to enjoy.\u2019<\/p>\n Customers who purchase a paper tub are invited to share feedback on the changes by scanning a QR code on the inside of the lid. <\/p>\n Cadbury is also going to be running an in-store competition during the trial, offering Heroes fans the chance to win cash prizes or Tesco vouchers with the purchase of a paper tub.<\/p>\n This trial comes after Nestl\u00e9 launched the \u2018first-of-its-kind\u2019 paper tub for Quality Street<\/a> chocolates in November 2024.<\/p>\n The tubs were embellished with gold foil and were fully recyclable, but customers were sceptical about the change \u2013 suggesting some people may not be on board with Cadbury\u2019s version.<\/p>\n At the time, a few were adamant that putting the chocolates in a paper box would somehow mean they \u2018won\u2019t taste the same\u2019. <\/p>\n And others were outraged about the loss of the reusable tub\/tin, with @shoehamreads posting on X: \u2018How is my Grandma going to store her sewing kit in there for the next 30 years?\u2019<\/p>\n Quality Street fans also claimed that this was \u2018one change too many\u2019 for the brand, while @LindaL said: \u2018I\u2019m not a fan, I won\u2019t be buying, prefer the tins.\u2019<\/p>\n On Facebook<\/a>, users were divided over the paper tubs, with some claiming they felt like a \u2018rip off\u2019, looked like a \u2018pizza box\u2019 and would \u2018get damaged easier\u2019. <\/p>\n But others thought it was \u2018a fantastic idea\u2019 and \u2018made sense\u2019 to cut down on plastic use. <\/p>\n Whether the same sentiments will be shared for Cadbury\u2019s new product, we\u2019ll have to wait and see\u2026<\/p>\n \t\t\t\tAn alternative chocolate tin for Christmas…\t\t\t<\/p>\n If all the changes to Quality Street<\/a> and Heroes isn\u2019t for you, then shoppers claim there\u2019s a supermarket alternative that is \u2018better\u2019 <\/a>than the big chocolate brands. <\/p>\n The Big Mix from M&S costs \u00a37 for a 650g carton or \u00a312 for a huge 1.2kg tin and features a mix of 10 different sweets in colourful wrappers, suitable for vegetarians.<\/p>\n The selection includes Salted Caramel,\u00a0Coffee<\/a>\u00a0Truffle, Hazelnut in Caramel, Cream Toffee, Milk Cr\u00e8me, Caramel Fudge, Strawberry Cr\u00e8me, Orange Cr\u00e8me, Biscuit in Caramel and a Butterscotch \u00c9clair.<\/p>\n Both the box and tin are available to\u00a0buy now on Ocado<\/a>\u00a0and shoppers have been raving about the products in the reviews.\u00a0<\/p>\n A shopper known as littlepieces gave them a 5\/5 rating, writing: \u2018Best chocolate box for Christmas!<\/p>\n \u2018These are our favourite chocolate box at Christmas time for sharing with the family \u2013 the chocolate is nice and thick and lovely fillings. I\u2019ve been buying these for a few years now instead of the other popular brands.\u2019<\/p>\n Whirley Shirley agreed, saying: \u2018Absolutely love this new mix of chocs with some different flavours to the norm.
