{"id":219385,"date":"2025-10-23T03:45:07","date_gmt":"2025-10-23T03:45:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/219385\/"},"modified":"2025-10-23T03:45:07","modified_gmt":"2025-10-23T03:45:07","slug":"springbok-star-ruled-out-of-autumn-matches-after-huge-ban","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/219385\/","title":{"rendered":"Springbok star ruled out of Autumn matches after HUGE ban"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Springbok and Sharks flyer\u00a0Makazole Mapimpi\u00a0has been handed a\u00a0five-match suspension\u00a0following his\u00a0red card\u00a0in the Sharks\u2019\u00a026\u201334 United Rugby Championship defeat to Ulster\u00a0this past weekend.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/channel\/AbYd2l05pp1bM_Ix\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Join RUCK\u2019s Instagram broadcast channel <\/a>and get the latest rugby news straight to your phone.<\/p>\n<p>Referee\u00a0Ben Whitehouse\u00a0gave Mapimpi his marching orders in the 55th minute for a dangerous tackle under\u00a0Law 9.18\u2014 lifting an opponent off the ground and driving them so that the head or upper body makes contact with the ground.<\/p>\n<p>During the disciplinary process, overseen by\u00a0Judicial Officer Sheriff Kathrine Mackie, Mapimpi accepted that his challenge constituted foul play and that the red card was warranted.<\/p>\n<p>Sheriff Mackie ruled that the offence met the red-card threshold with a\u00a0low-end entry point of six weeks.
