This is the fifth edition to be hosted by a South American country, and the first in Chile.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-seasonal\" href=\"\" data-url=\"\" target=\"_blank\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"4c21fddc-dd38-454b-a0ef-52e6513244e8-2\" class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\">The Netherlands took the competition by the scruff of the neck on day one, winning all three events, including the women&#8217;s scratch race and both the men&#8217;s and women&#8217;s team sprints. A former BMX rider, Harrie Lavreysen counts an unprecedented 16 track world titles and five Olympic gold medals, three of which he won in Paris.<\/p>\n<p>Matt Richardson (Great Britain)<br \/>Following his post-Olympic nationality switch to Great Britain, Richardson had to sit out international competition for a period of time. He&#8217;ll be desperate to get back into it and take the racing to Lavreysen, buoyed by his <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingweekly.com\/news\/matthew-richardson-breaks-flying-200m-world-record-to-become-fastest-cyclist-of-all-time\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingweekly.com\/news\/matthew-richardson-breaks-flying-200m-world-record-to-become-fastest-cyclist-of-all-time\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">recent world record rider in Turkey<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Ally Wollaston (New Zealand)<br \/>Two world titles in Copenhagen last year propelled Wollaston to the top of women&#8217;s track cycling. Prior to that, she won two medals at the Paris Olympics: silver in the team pursuit, and bronze in the Omnium.<\/p>\n<p>Katie Archibald (Great Britain)<br \/>One of the most decorated riders in track racing returns to the boards for another major championships. With two Olympic golds, multiple world and European titles to her name, she will once again be the rider to watch in the women&#8217;s endurance events.<\/p>\n<p><a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingweekly.com\/tag\/josh-tarling\" data-auto-tag-linker=\"true\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingweekly.com\/tag\/josh-tarling\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Josh Tarling<\/a> (Great Britain) <br \/>The Ineos Grenadiers time trial specialist is <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingweekly.com\/racing\/josh-tarling-set-for-track-world-championships-debut-with-great-britain\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingweekly.com\/racing\/josh-tarling-set-for-track-world-championships-debut-with-great-britain\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">making his senior World Champs debut for Great Britain<\/a> in Chile, but he won&#8217;t be riding any events against the clock.
