{"id":221796,"date":"2025-10-24T03:55:06","date_gmt":"2025-10-24T03:55:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/221796\/"},"modified":"2025-10-24T03:55:06","modified_gmt":"2025-10-24T03:55:06","slug":"safely-dispose-of-prescription-medications-this-saturday-oct-25-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/221796\/","title":{"rendered":"Safely Dispose of Prescription Medications This Saturday, Oct. 25 | News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\tReading Time:  2 minutes<\/p>\n<p>The San Diego County Sheriff\u2019s Office is urging people to check their homes and collect unused or expired prescription medications and turn them in on National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.<\/p>\n<p>People can anonymously drop medication off at one of nine Sheriff\u2019s locations, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and help prevent misuse, accidental poisoning and the risk of medications ending up in the wrong hands.\u00a0\u00a0No sharps or needles will be accepted. Other drop-off locations are available around the county.<\/p>\n<p>Prescription drugs can include pills containing opioids like oxycodone, antibiotics,\u00a0and other medicines which can be dangerous if they end up in illegal markets.<\/p>\n<p>In 2024, 541\u202fpeople died from opioid overdoses in San Diego County as can be referenced in an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sandiegocounty.gov\/content\/sdc\/hhsa\/programs\/phs\/OSAR\/data-dashboard.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Overdose Surveillance Dashboard<\/a> that pulls together data from across the county.<\/p>\n<p>The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dea.gov\/takebackday\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" class=\"broken_link\">list of 31\u00a0<\/a>locations\u00a0around the county that are open this Saturday to drop off unwanted prescription medications including the following San Diego County Sheriff\u2019s Offices:<\/p>\n<p>Alpine Sheriff\u2019s Station \u2013 2751 Alpine Boulevard, Alpine<br \/>\nEncinitas Scripps Hospital \u2013 354 Santa Fe Drive, Encinitas<br \/>\nFallbrook Sheriff\u2019s Substation, 388 East Alvarado St., Fallbrook<br \/>\nImperial Beach Sheriff\u2019s Substation \u2013 845 Imperial Beach Boulevard, Imperial Beach<br \/>\nLakeside Sheriff\u2019s Substation, 12365 Parkside St., Lakeside<br \/>\nRamona Sheriff\u2019s Substation at Albertson\u2019s, 1459 Main St., Ramona<br \/>\nRancho San Diego Sheriff\u2019s Station, 11486 Campo Road, Spring Valley<br \/>\nSan Marcos Sheriff\u2019s Station \u2013 182 Santar Place, San Marcos<br \/>\nValley Center Sheriff\u2019s Substation, 28201 N. Lake Wohlford Road, Valley Center<\/p>\n<p>San Diego County offers more than 200 disposal locations open year-round.
