{"id":222618,"date":"2025-10-24T12:21:08","date_gmt":"2025-10-24T12:21:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/222618\/"},"modified":"2025-10-24T12:21:08","modified_gmt":"2025-10-24T12:21:08","slug":"charlie-cresswell-played-for-leeds-united-and-millwall-but-he-says-neither-has-the-best-atmosphere","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/222618\/","title":{"rendered":"Charlie Cresswell played for Leeds United and Millwall, but he says neither has the best atmosphere"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Former Leeds United defender Charlie Cresswell has admitted the fans in England are not the best he has played in front of, after moving to Toulouse in 2024. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.leedsunited.news\/tag\/charlie-cresswell\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Charlie Cresswell<\/a> came through the Leeds academy to make his senior debut for the club under <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leedsunited.news\/tag\/marcelo-bielsa\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Marcelo Bielsa<\/a> in the EFL Cup in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>However, Cresswell found his playing time limited under <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leedsunited.news\/tag\/daniel-farke\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Daniel Farke<\/a> and was allowed to leave the club on a permanent deal in the summer of 2024. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.leedsunited.news\/news\/french-media-deliver-verdict-on-leeds-united-product-charlie-cresswell-after-toulouse-victory\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cresswell has been in impressive form<\/a> for Toulouse this season, earning rave reviews from the French media after his goal-scoring role in the recent win over FC Metz. <\/p>\n<p>Now, the former Leeds man has admitted that the atmosphere at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leedsunited.news\/tag\/elland-road\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Elland Road<\/a> is not the best he has played in front of, praising the passion of the French supporters. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"626\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/GettyImages-2178585084-1024x626.jpg\" alt=\"Charlie Cresswell celebrates scoring for England's U21 side against Azerbaijan.\" class=\"wp-image-73726\" \/>Photo by Michael Steele\/Getty ImagesFormer Leeds United defender praises French supporters<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to French publication Footballogue via their X (formerly Twitter) account, Cresswell explained the difference between English and French fans. <\/p>\n<p>According to Cresswell, although the fans in England are passionate, the coordination of the French Ultras in the stadium sets the Ligue 1 atmosphere apart.<\/p>\n<p>Cresswell said: \u201cIn France, the supporters are incredible. There are ultras down at the front of the Tribune stand, using a megaphone to direct the other fans; it\u2019s really crazy!<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSometimes, they don\u2019t even watch the match; they just sing and jump like they\u2019ve lost their minds.
