The role combines leading the elite end of the game on the island with developing the next generation of players.<\/p>\n
Gomersall hopes it will prove to be an attractive proposition – especially when brought together with the stability that the Jersey Cricket Board brings. <\/p>\n
“Something you don’t see across the world, and particularly in Europe, is good governance, a strong board, a stable board, and that’s something that we can offer to a director of cricket,” she told BBC Radio Jersey.<\/p>\n
“So if you’re a head coach looking at Jersey, it’s not only an exciting proposition on the field, but off the field it gives some comfort and you know that you’ve got the firepower, if you like, to match the ambition on the field.<\/p>\n
“I think we need a proven coach, we need somebody who’s ambitious, got vision and they need to be highly experienced across men’s cricket, women’s cricket, development, so looking at our pathway.<\/p>\n
“It’s vitally important that they can see talent and work with the next generation coming through the clubs, through the under-19s and through the junior structure, and that’s something which you don’t get in all cricket at our level.<\/p>\n
“If you think about Italy, for example, you’ve got quite a lot of players who’ve come from Australia in their national side.<\/p>\n
“They’re our ready comparator because we play against them quite a lot, but we don’t have that luxury.<\/p>\n
