Taulupe Faletau limped off just minutes into Cardiff’s URC clash with Edinburgh on Saturday night to hand Wales head coach Steve Tandy a huge injury worry.<\/p>\n
Just three minutes into the match at the Arms Park, the legendary Lions No 8 was forced off the field with an injury.<\/p>\n
The 34-year-old was replaced by Alun Lawrence, with the visitors already 5-0 to good following an early score.<\/p>\n
Faletau has been named in Tandy’s 39-man squad for the upcoming autumn international series, which will see Wales face off against Argentina, Japan, New Zealand and South Africa..<\/p>\n
He signed a new contract with the capital city club last May after playing just eight times in an injury-hit 2024-25 campaign. He suffered a calf injury in training on his return from Wales’ summer trip to Japan.<\/p>\n
Faletau made his first start of the season against the Dragons earlier this month but this new injury will surely be of concern to Tandy.<\/p>\n
The head coach said earlier this week having his experience in the camp will be hugely beneficial for the likes of new cap Morgan Morse.<\/p>\n
“There\u2019s those experienced pieces around there, but Morgan\u2019s just been outstanding with the Ospreys<\/a>. In South Africa, going up against those boys in the 79th minute, physically still going,” he said.<\/p>\n “That\u2019s something outstanding.
