\u201cdangerously\u201d drifting around a roundabout at an illegal car meet, putting watching crowds at \u201crisk of being seriously injured\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Daniel Broomfield, 23, from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/uk-news\/southampton\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" data-component=\"auto-linked-tag\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Southampton<\/a>, was sentenced at Winchester crown court on 25 September to a 27-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, having pleaded guilty to dangerous driving.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">He was also banned from driving for 12 months and ordered to carry out unpaid work and a rehabilitation programme.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">A Hampshire constabulary spokesperson said that the video was recorded at a car meet in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/uk-news\/portsmouth\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" data-component=\"auto-linked-tag\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Portsmouth<\/a> on 28 December 2024, and showed Broomfield driving a pink BMW.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The spokesperson said: \u201cThis footage shows the shocking moment a dangerous driver drifted around a roundabout at an illegal car meet in Portsmouth, while crowds watched on despite the risk of being seriously injured.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">He added: \u201cMore than 200 offences involving illegal car meets in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/uk-news\/hampshire\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" data-component=\"auto-linked-tag\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Hampshire<\/a> have been dealt with in just over a year, as part of our efforts to stamp out the blight of dangerous and antisocial driving on our roads.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">He said the force had dealt with 215 offences since August, adding: \u201cMore than \u00a313,000 in fines and 69 penalty points have been handed out to offenders, four people have been disqualified and 76 fixed-penalty notices have been issued.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cIn the most serious of cases, we have brought 54 prosecutions to court.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Sgt James Hall said: \u201cResidents, motorists and our roads policing teams have had enough with these groups of drivers selfishly taking over public roads and car parks and we will not tolerate it in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cThey are not only a complete nuisance, but they are also putting themselves and innocent bystanders at risk of serious injury.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cWe will continue to prosecute these drivers and I hope these recent cases serve as a warning:
