We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.<\/p>\n<p>Your support makes all the difference.Read more<\/p>\n<p>Rapper <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/danielle-deadwyler-gucci-mane-stream-alex-murdaugh-allison-janney-b2843384.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Gucci Mane<\/a> has spoken out about his mental health after being diagnosed with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/life-style\/health-and-families\/caffeine-pouches-health-risks-energy-nicotine-b2838708.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">schizophrenia<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/life-style\/health-and-families\/tv-chef-heston-blumenthal-nhs-mind-b2706651.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">bipolar disorder<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>The singer and his wife, Keyshia Ka\u2019oir, chatted about his health during Monday\u2019s episode of The Breakfast Club, days after he released his book, Episodes: The Diary of a Recovering Mad Man. Mane revealed his diagnoses in the book, which came out October 14.<\/p>\n<p>During the joint appearance, Ka\u2019oir opened up about supporting her husband when he had episodes and how she helped him manage his symptoms, which he kept out of the public eye. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI take his apps off his phone. First thing I do, I delete Instagram,\u201d she explained. \u201cI delete everything. Even if I gotta change his password, I\u2019m changing it because I don\u2019t need the public to know he\u2019s having an episode.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She continued to argue that she would control \u201ceverything at home,\u201d barring Mane from seeing anything on X and Instagram when he has an episode. Text messages, there\u2019s a period after each word,\u201d Ka\u2019oir explained. \u201cAnd I\u2019m like, \u2018You\u2019re going through an episode, you\u2019re sick.\u2019\u201d <\/p>\n<p>She said that while Mane told her nothing was wrong and tried to argue with her, she\u2019d call him out and say, \u201cWell, that\u2019s not how you speak to your wife\u2026You\u2019re sick.\u201d From there, Mane would \u201csnap out\u201d of his episode right away. <\/p>\n<p>Mane then explained his behavior during his episodes, noting that he once gave away personal belongings and money. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI gave my friends jewelry. And they knew I wasn\u2019t well, they\u2019d take it,\u201d the rapper, whose real name is Radric Delantic Davis, said. \u201cThey was taking advantage.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>He noted that during the episodes, he felt like he was in a \u201cpsychosis\u201d or a \u201cwarped world.\u201d He also said that he\u2019d hear \u201cvoices\u201d in his mind tell him that people were upset at him when they weren\u2019t. <\/p>\n<p>Schizophrenia, a serious mental health condition that impacts how people feel and behave, can \u201cresult in a mix of hallucinations, delusions, and disorganized thinking and behavior,\u201d according to the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-affiliate=\"true\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/redirect.viglink.com?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.mayoclinic.org%2Fdiseases-conditions%2Fschizophrenia%2Fsymptoms-causes%2Fsyc-20354443&amp;articleId=b2849628&amp;key=9ed4af92937c872e0ab792f0310bab4e\">Mayo Clinic.<\/a> Those hallucinations also involve \u201cseeing things or hearing voices that aren&#8217;t observed by others.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/GettyImages-2180620105.jpeg\"  loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"Gucci Mane and his wife KeyShia Ka\u2019oir got married in 2017\" class=\"sc-1mc30lb-0 ggpMaE inline-gallery-btn\"\/><\/p>\n<p>open image in gallery<\/p>\n<p>Gucci Mane and his wife KeyShia Ka\u2019oir got married in 2017 (Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p>Bipolar disorder, formerly called manic depression, is a mental health condition that can result in major mood swings. This includes \u201cemotional highs, also known as mania or hypomania, and lows, also known as depression,\u201d per <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-affiliate=\"true\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/redirect.viglink.com?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.mayoclinic.org%2Fdiseases-conditions%2Fbipolar-disorder%2Fsymptoms-causes%2Fsyc-20355955&amp;articleId=b2849628&amp;key=9ed4af92937c872e0ab792f0310bab4e\">Mayo Clinic<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Mane decided to begin therapy and was <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/health\/schizophrenia-treatment-llama-study-b2797652.html\">prescribed medication<\/a> for his mental health condition, which he said worked. He also confessed that \u201cdrug use, stress, and not sleeping\u201d are what triggered his episodes. <\/p>\n<p>He also revealed that it was an episode he had in 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic, that urged him to get professional help. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter that, I was like, man, I got to really just hold myself accountable and take care of my health,\u201d he said. \u201cI don\u2019t ever want to have an episode again. If I have to see a therapist, if I have to take medicine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cKing Spine\u201d rapper also said that his mental health was struggling when Ka\u2019oir, whom he\u2019s been married to since 2017, was pregnant with his son in 2020. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don&#8217;t want to raise a family, and then my mental health is gone.
