Fabio Wardley has risen four places on The Ring Magazine’s heavyweight rankings.<\/p>\n

Wardley claimed an impressive win over Parker<\/a> to take the latter’s WBO interim heavyweight title on October 25.<\/p>\n

Wardley was the underdog in his fight against Parker but his ferocious punching power couldn’t be countered in the later stages of the clashCredit: Queensberry\/Leigh Dawney<\/p>\n

The pair went toe-to-toe exchanging devastating punches, until Wardley forced Parker against the ropes in the 11th round.<\/p>\n

As the Briton unleashed a barrage of shots against a defenseless Parker, referee Howard Foster had seen enough of their ferocious battle and waved off the action.<\/p>\n

His win saw Wardley become the new WBO interim champion and continue his unbeaten streak as a pro.<\/p>\n

After announcing himself on the world stage, the 30-year-old has now found himself in the No.2 spot on the Ring Magazine’s updated rankings.<\/p>\n

His recent foe has also received a new ranking change, as Parker drops two places into No.4 following the shock defeat.<\/p>\n

The top five behind undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk is now made up of Tyson Fury<\/a>, Wardley, Agit Kabayel, Parker and Daniel Dubois<\/a>.<\/p>\n

While Filip Hrgovic, Zhilei Zhang<\/a>, Martin Bakole, Moses Itauma<\/a> and Efe Ajagba make up places No.6 to No.10.<\/p>\n

Wardley’s ascension reflects his overall success as a heavyweight contender, since turning professional in 2017.<\/p>\n

Only two of his 21 outings have reached the final bell, and he has established quite the reputation as a knockout artist due to his huge right hand.<\/p>\n

With 19 of his 20 wins coming by way of stoppage, the 30-year-old is certainly a force to be reckoned with as he continues his hopeful climb to the top.<\/p>\n

The WBO had previously ordered Oleksandr Usyk<\/a> to take on the winner of Parker vs Wardley.<\/p>\n

As a result, that now puts the Ipswich puncher in line for a shot at heavyweight gold when Usyk returns to action following an injury.<\/p>\n

Unless the Ukrainian opts to vacate his belt, the next time we see Wardley in action it is expected to be against the two-time heavyweight undisputed world champ.<\/p>\n

Should Usyk go down another path Wardley would be elevated\u00a0to full world champion, although as it stands the high-stakes clash is expected to go ahead.<\/a><\/p>\n

Wardley’s promoter, Frank Warren, confirmed that they are looking to host the fight in the first part of 2026.<\/p>\n

In the post-fight press conference, Warren said: \u201cThe fight [between Usyk and Wardley] has been ordered, so there will be a period of negotiations now.<\/p>\n

“And if we can\u2019t reach an agreement, then it will go out for purse bids. I believe we will reach an agreement.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe fight won\u2019t be until next year, of course. I think it will be sometime in March…<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d love it to be in the UK, but there are only two places for this fight, and that\u2019s either in Riyadh or here in London, that\u2019s it.”<\/p>\n
