{"id":233496,"date":"2025-10-30T06:47:10","date_gmt":"2025-10-30T06:47:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/233496\/"},"modified":"2025-10-30T06:47:10","modified_gmt":"2025-10-30T06:47:10","slug":"suns-far-side-erupts-in-satellite-image-photo-of-the-day-for-oct-29-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/233496\/","title":{"rendered":"Sun&#8217;s far side erupts in satellite image photo of the day for Oct. 29, 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"2617ab90-1118-4233-ae3a-f11bfb46b293\">Late on <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.spaceweather.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.spaceweather.com\/\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Oct. 21, 2025<\/a>, a spectacular <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/coronal-mass-ejections-cme\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/coronal-mass-ejections-cme\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">coronal mass ejection<\/a> (CME) erupted from the <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/JAtanackov\/status\/1980919782523212230\" target=\"_blank\" data-url=\"https:\/\/x.com\/JAtanackov\/status\/1980919782523212230\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" rel=\"nofollow\">far side of the sun<\/a>, an area currently dominated by the powerful and persistent <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/spaceweathergallery2.com\/indiv_upload.php?upload_id=226856\" target=\"_blank\" data-url=\"https:\/\/spaceweathergallery2.com\/indiv_upload.php?upload_id=226856\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Active Region 4246. <\/a> The eruption occurred just after the active region had rotated beyond the sun&#8217;s western limb, out of direct view from <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/54-earth-history-composition-and-atmosphere.html\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/54-earth-history-composition-and-atmosphere.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Earth<\/a> and the weather satellites that monitor <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/solar-cycle-frequency-prediction-facts\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/solar-cycle-frequency-prediction-facts\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">solar activity. <\/a><\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-5ec28b19-106d-46ec-97fc-1e5680d2aeaa\" href=\"\" data-url=\"\" target=\"_blank\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\"\/>What is it?<\/p>\n<p id=\"b70aae2c-ee29-4a78-8d59-5773d52cde6e\" class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\">CMEs are among the most awe-inspiring explosions in the <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/16080-solar-system-planets.html\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/16080-solar-system-planets.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">solar system<\/a>. These vast eruptions hurl immense clouds of magnetized plasma from the sun&#8217;s corona into interplanetary space, sometimes at millions of miles per hour.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-seasonal\" class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\" href=\"\" data-url=\"\" target=\"_blank\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"b70aae2c-ee29-4a78-8d59-5773d52cde6e-1\">Yet many of these powerful outbursts occur where we can&#8217;t see them directly, on the <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Vincent_Ledvina\/status\/1980790312714080726\" target=\"_blank\" data-url=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Vincent_Ledvina\/status\/1980790312714080726\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" rel=\"nofollow\">far side<\/a> of the sun, hidden from Earth&#8217;s telescopes. These events still shape the solar wind environment that later sweeps past our planet or impacts other worlds, such as <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/44-venus-second-planet-from-the-sun-brightest-planet-in-solar-system.html\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/44-venus-second-planet-from-the-sun-brightest-planet-in-solar-system.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Venus<\/a> and<a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/47-mars-the-red-planet-fourth-planet-from-the-sun.html\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/47-mars-the-red-planet-fourth-planet-from-the-sun.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> Mars.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>You may like<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s where the <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.swpc.noaa.gov\/products\/ccor-1-coronagraph-experimental\" target=\"_blank\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.swpc.noaa.gov\/products\/ccor-1-coronagraph-experimental\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Compact Coronagraph (CCOR-1)<\/a> instrument aboard NOAA&#8217;s GOES-19 weather satellite comes in. (Image credit: NOAA)<a id=\"elk-4ea5f98e-f0cf-42ba-97b1-a0d90d63dd91\" class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\" href=\"\" data-url=\"\" target=\"_blank\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\"\/>Why is it amazing?<\/p>\n<p id=\"aff6cc88-2fa9-4bca-9789-710d15528be3\">When aimed toward Earth, these sorts of eruptions can set off brilliant auroras, <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/14818-solar-flare-magnetic-storm-satellites.html\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/14818-solar-flare-magnetic-storm-satellites.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">disrupt satellites<\/a> and disturb power systems.
