If Felix Auger-Aliassime<\/a> can go on to secure a spot at the 2025 Nitto ATP Finals<\/a>, he will have done it the hard way. <\/p>\n Needing a third-round victory on Thursday at the Rolex Paris Masters<\/a> to keep his hopes of qualifying for the prestigious season finale in Turin alive, the ninth-seeded Canadian overcame Daniel Altmaier<\/a> 3-6, 6-3, 6-2. It\u2019s been a struggle all week,\u201d reflected Auger-Aliassime. \u201cJust fighting back, I feel like every day. That\u2019s why I came in today knowing it might be tough again. Just stay calm, stay patient, and try to find solutions. I tried to dig deep. I know I have solutions within myself, but it\u2019s just about making the right choices and executing right. <\/p>\n \u201cI started serving better and better as the match went on. I was struggling with his change of pace on the serve\u2026 It was just a bit of a mix up in my mind, where to return. I found a way to pressure him and broke him three times in the rest of the match.\u201d <\/p>\n Perhaps feeling the effects of his bruising opening wins against Francisco Comesana<\/a> and Alexandre Muller<\/a>, Auger-Aliassime was sluggish in the opening stages of his clash with Altmaier at La D\u00e9fense Arena. Yet he showed no visible signs of panic and delivered a rock-solid performance in the second and third sets to set a quarter-final showdown with Shanghai champion Valentin Vacherot<\/a>. <\/p>\n With his Tour-leading 81st victory indoors this decade, Auger-Aliassime moved to within 290 points of eighth-placed Lorenzo Musetti<\/a> in the PIF ATP Live Race To Turin. His frequent forays forwards on a relatively slow Paris court also proved crucial: The eight-time ATP Tour champion won 20 of 25 points at the net. <\/p>\n Now into the quarter-finals for the sixth consecutive tour-level event, Auger-Aliassime will now prepare for a maiden Lexus ATP Head2Head meeting with Vacherot, who earlier downed Carlos Alcaraz<\/a>\u2019s conqueror Cameron Norrie<\/a> 7-6(4), 6-4.
