Good Morning Britain star Richard Gaisford has announced he is leaving the ITV show after 25 years as he moves on to ‘new opportunities in a fast-changing media world’a, Monde Mwitumwa, Jennie Buzaglo Showbiz & TV Reporter and Ambarish Awale<\/a><\/p>\n

A Good Morning Britain<\/a> presenter has revealed his exit from the programme following an impressive 25-year tenure with the ITV show.<\/p>\n

Richard Gaisford posted an emotional message as he declared: “I have been privileged to have the best job in TV news for the last quarter of a century, trusted to take a front row seat at history making events all over the world.<\/p>\n

“I have worked with an incredible team of journalists and camera operators, broadcasting to a highly responsive breakfast audience.”<\/p>\n

He went on: “I’m really excited about moving on to new opportunities in a fast-changing media world, starting another chapter in my career.”<\/p>\n

Although departing GMB, Gaisford will remain with the ITV<\/a> network, concentrating on current affairs content, reports the Mirror<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The experienced broadcaster initially joined GMTV in 2000, subsequently becoming its senior correspondent. He maintained this position when Daybreak replaced it in 2010 and stayed on as senior correspondent when Good Morning Britain debuted in 2014.<\/p>\n

Gaisford had the honour of being the first British broadcast journalist to deliver live reports from Basra, Iraq, in 2003.<\/p>\n

His distinguished career has involved covering major international stories including the Indian Ocean tsunami in 2004, Nelson Mandela’s death in South Africa, Robert Mugabe’s fall from power in Zimbabwe, and the dramatic rescue of Chilean miners stranded in the Atacama Desert, reports the Express.<\/p>\n

More recently, Gaisford has been delivering live coverage from Ukraine during the ongoing war with Russia, providing viewers with accurate and timely updates from the frontline. His reputation for calm and clarity under pressure has made him a trusted face on British morning television<\/a> for decades.<\/p>\n

Andrew Dagnell, ITV’s director of news and current affairs, paid tribute to Gaisford, stating: “Richard is one of the most accomplished and respected journalists in British broadcasting.<\/p>\n

“His work has helped define what audiences expect from breakfast news \u2013 authoritative, human and trusted. Few reporters have covered such a breadth of stories with the same composure and clarity that Richard brings to every assignment.<\/p>\n

“He leaves with the gratitude and admiration of colleagues across ITV News, and I look forward to working with Richard on some exciting current affairs in the future.”<\/p>\n

Good Morning Britain fans voiced their dismay at the news but showed their support for Gaisford with heartfelt messages.<\/p>\n

One fan wrote: “What an era Richard? GMB will certainly not be the same without you. That is for sure. The consummate professional. Grateful for your advice and support across the years. Good luck in whatever ventures lie ahead. Whatever they are, I know, they will be a resounding success.”<\/p>\n

Another said: “Delighted and gutted in equal measure. The very best of luck in the next chapter.”<\/p>\n

A third remarked: “You’ve been brilliant at Good Morning Britain!
