{"id":235229,"date":"2025-10-31T04:05:12","date_gmt":"2025-10-31T04:05:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/235229\/"},"modified":"2025-10-31T04:05:12","modified_gmt":"2025-10-31T04:05:12","slug":"13-new-inductees-to-scottish-rugby-hall-of-fame-revealed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/235229\/","title":{"rendered":"13 new inductees to Scottish Rugby Hall of Fame revealed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SCOTTISH RUGBY will induct 13 Scots into its Hall of Fame at a ceremony in central Edinburgh this evening attended by members of the men\u2019s and women\u2019s national squads and management teams, plus supporters who had participated in an online poll.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTonight we commemorate the rich and enduring contributions of the men and women whose influence in Scottish Rugby, in whatever their role, is the stuff of legend,\u201d said former Scotland cap and captain Chris Paterson MBE, chair of Scottish Rugby\u2019s Hall of Fame panel. \u201cThe word \u2018inspiration\u2019 doesn\u2019t really do them justice!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Hall of Fame was established in 2010 and since then Scottish Rugby has welcomed 35 inductees, comprising in total 54 people, as the entire Scotland men\u2019s team, who played in the first ever international in 1871 \u2013 all 20 of them \u2013 was included.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Hall of Fame is about so much more than winning caps for Scotland,\u201d Paterson added. \u201cIts purpose is to recognise those who have shown or achieved an exceptional commitment to rugby at a local, national or international level.
