\n Warning issued by DEFA but no restrictions imposed\n <\/p>\n

A case of Bird flu has been confirmed on the Isle of Man.\u00a0<\/p>\n

People are asked not to touch sick or dead birds after a wild buzzard was found in a garden near Bride and was later confirmed to have died from avian influenza.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The virus is not affecting kept or farmed birds in the Isle of Man, no restriction zones or other measures have been introduced.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture has issued the following advice:<\/p>\n

Do not touch sick or dead birds or let dogs near them.\u00a0
\n All well-cooked local eggs and poultry are safe to eat.\u00a0
\n Keep a respectful distance from all wild birds on land or at sea.\u00a0
\n Bird keepers should practice good biosecurity and hygiene<\/p>\n

Residents are assured that the risk to people is considered very low.<\/p>\n
