British police have arrested two men in connection with\u00a0a\u00a0mass stabbing\u00a0that injured 11 people aboard a London-bound train.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Police responded to reports of knife attacks<\/a> on\u00a0a train from Doncaster, a city in the northeast of England, to London\u2019s famous\u00a0King\u2019s Cross station<\/a> at around 8 p.m.\u00a0on Nov. 1.\u00a0The train made an unscheduled stop in Huntingdon, a\u00a0market town near the University of Cambridge,\u00a0and police say they arrested two\u00a0men\u00a0on\u00a0suspicion of attempted murder\u00a0within minutes.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n Ten people were taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance, and one other person later admitted themself to a hospital, according to police. Initial reports suggested nine people suffered life-threatening injuries, but four have since been released from the hospital. Two\u00a0remain\u00a0in critical condition.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n Passengers who spoke to the BBC <\/a>recounted a bloody, gruesome scene.\u00a0One passenger, Olly Foster, told the outlet he believed the stabbing was a Halloween prank when people initially began shouting.\u00a0Soon, though, a man \u201ccovered in blood\u201d walked into his train car\u00a0and sat down.\u00a0<\/p>\n “I put my hand on this chair … and then I look at my hand, and it’s covered in blood. And then I look at the chair, and there’s blood all over the chair. And then I look ahead and there’s blood on all the chairs,” he\u00a0said.\u00a0<\/p>\n One man\u00a0attempted\u00a0to block one of the attackers from stabbing a young girl, Foster recounted. People in the train car used a bottle of whiskey to protect themselves against the attackers, Foster told the BBC.\u00a0The incident, he said, lasted 10-15 minutes but “felt like forever.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n British Prime Minister Keir Starmer\u00a0called the incident \u201cappalling\u201d in\u00a0a post on X<\/a>, formerly Twitter.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cMy thoughts are with all those affected, and my thanks go to the emergency services for their response.
