But is this trend actually good for you?\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_10-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> Here&#8217;s what nutrition experts had to say\u2014plus, how much fiber you actually need to eat every day (and the best ways to get it).\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_13-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> At its core, fibermaxxing is about increasing (or \u201cmaximizing\u201d) your fiber intake to boost digestion and overall health. Most users online share fiber-rich recipes or ingredients that others can add to their daily routines.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_15-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> The trend could be interpreted as simply making dietary changes so that you\u2019re able to reach the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.health.com\/how-much-fiber-per-day-8690903\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">recommended daily intake for fiber<\/a>, which is 14 grams per 1,000 calories consumed. Some opt for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.health.com\/foods-with-more-fiber-than-oatmeal-11739682\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">whole foods rich in fiber<\/a>, such as chia seeds, raspberries, or lentils, while others lean on supplements to hit their goals.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_24-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> When it comes to fibermaxxing, experts agree: Fiber is crucial for a healthy body, and most of us could benefit from eating more of it.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_26-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> It\u2019s estimated that about 90% of women and 97% of men are falling short on their daily fiber intake. Plus, nine in 10 Americans aren\u2019t getting enough vegetables in their daily diets, and eight in 10 Americans aren\u2019t eating enough fruit, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/sara-eunice-cardenas\/\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"externalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sara Cardenas, MPH, RDN<\/a>, registered dietitian and nutrition services supervisor at Little Lake City School District, told Health.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_28-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> Eating more fiber\u2014at least enough to meet those recommended levels\u2014could have a significant impact on your overall well-being.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_30-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> And the effects can be immediate. It has also been linked to a lower risk of mortality from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.health.com\/condition\/heart-disease-overview\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"3\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">cardiovascular disease<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_36-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> &#8220;I love that social media finally has a positive nutrition trend,\u201d said House.<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_39-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> Eating a high-fiber diet is good for you, but there\u2019s a catch. \u201cMore isn\u2019t always better,\u201d Davis warned.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_41-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> Fibermaxxing sounds beneficial on paper, but suddenly loading your meals with large amounts of fiber can cause some unpleasant <a href=\"https:\/\/www.health.com\/too-much-fiber-signs-and-symptoms-7559276\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">side effects<\/a>, including:\n<\/p>\n<p> BloatingGasGeneral digestive discomfort<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_45-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> Plus, fibermaxxing may not be suitable for everyone. Focus on fiber-rich whole foods like vegetables, fruits, legumes, and whole grains,\u201d she said.
