If you had to put your life on the line every time you went to work, you\u2019d be forgiven for having a drink to take the edge off at the end of the day.\u00a0<\/p>\n
However, for Nabil Elouahabi, who plays veteran explosives officer Hassan \u2018Hass\u2019 Rahim in the hit ITV drama Trigger Point<\/a>, Hass needed to steer clear of alcohol.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u2018I\u2019m sober,\u2019 he told Metro when we sat down with him. \u2018That was something I wanted to put in place [for the character]. Being sober and in recovery is part of my life. I love it, and it\u2019s a better way to live, for me, as simple as that.<\/p>\n \u2018There was a big pub scene [in the show], they were all doing shots, and I thought, I want to unpack something different without making a song and dance about it.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u2018There are lots of people who don\u2019t drink\u2026 personally, it got to the point where I just didn\u2019t want to drink anymore because it was causing me more harm than good.\u2019<\/p>\n Of course, a big part of why Nabil, 50, felt he could ask for Hass to be sober was because of the close relationship he shares with Trigger Point\u2019s lead actor and executive producer, Vicky McClure<\/a>.<\/p>\n To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web The pair have worked on the show together for the last three years, and Nabil made no secret of the fact that she\u2019s a joy to work with.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u2018Vicky is an example of a number one,\u2019 he explained.\u00a0<\/p>\n \t\t \u2018She always checked on everybody. Not just the actors, but all departments. <\/p>\n \u2018She cares, actually cares. I think that\u2019s informed by her working-class roots.\u2019<\/p>\n Of course, Nabil\u2019s willing to admit that even someone as lovely as Vicky has her vices, and apparently, the 42-year-old has one big weakness.<\/p>\n \u2018She is insane about Greggs,\u2019 Nabil laughed when we asked about the rumours she kept buying the cast and crew Greggs.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u2018She\u2019s addicted. I\u2019m sure she owns it and hasn\u2019t told us.\u2019<\/p>\n \t\t \t\t\t\tTrigger Point Key Details\t\t\t<\/p>\n What\u2019s it about? Vicky McClure, Nabil Elouahabi,\u00a0Eric Shango, Kerry Godliman,\u00a0Natalie Simpson,\u00a0Tamzin Griffin, Kevin Eldon<\/p>\n Where to watch: ITV and ITVX<\/p>\n When\u2019s it on: Sunday at 9 pm on ITV or you can stream all of season 3 now on ITVX<\/p>\n While Vicky may have a weakness for a decent pastry, Nabil is clear that this just demonstrates how giving she is as a co-worker.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u2018The main thing about Vicky is her generosity of spirit, he said. \u2018It sets the tone. \u2019<\/p>\n So, how does that tone translate to the atmosphere on set? Well, Nabil admits \u2018he\u2019s been doing this a long time\u2019 and \u2018done lots of shows\u2019 but Trigger Point is a bit special.<\/p>\n \t\t \u2018What\u2019s come out of this is,\u2019 he said. \u2018The excitement of being on a good job, being one of the main cast, and the third part is when you have a group of people who share your value system. There are no divas.\u2019<\/p>\n It\u2019s a good thing there are no divas on set as well because Vicky and Nabil, or their characters Lana and Hass, are going to have their hands full this season dealing with a mysterious bombing campaign that threatens to bring London to its knees.<\/p>\n Can the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit stop the bomber before it\u2019s too late?
