{"id":241616,"date":"2025-11-03T16:19:09","date_gmt":"2025-11-03T16:19:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/241616\/"},"modified":"2025-11-03T16:19:09","modified_gmt":"2025-11-03T16:19:09","slug":"reece-walsh-escapes-ban-for-third-rugby-league-ashes-test","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/241616\/","title":{"rendered":"Reece Walsh escapes ban for third Rugby League Ashes Test"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>No further disciplinary punishment has been taken against any player following the weekend\u2019s second Ashes Test between England and Australia, leaving Reece Walsh available for selection at Headingley on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.loverugbyleague.com\/tag\/reece-walsh\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Walsh<\/a>, the man-of-the-match at Wembley in the first of this autumn\u2019s three games, was at the heart of two controversial moments at Everton FC\u2019s Hill Dickinson Stadium in game two.<\/p>\n<p>In the first half of Saturday\u2019s second Test, full-back Walsh was penalised for a high shot on Dom Young as he prevented the England winger scoring in the corner.<\/p>\n<p>He escaped a card for that incident, with only the penalty given, but was eventually sin-binned with circa 15 minutes of the contest remaining for making contact with Young mid-air as the pair jumped for a kick in the corner.<\/p>\n<p>That incident left Young needing treatment and sparked a melee between the two sides, but no further action has been taken: so Walsh is free to play this weekend at Headingley.<\/p>\n<p>England and Australia stars including Reece Walsh escape bans ahead of third Ashes Test<\/p>\n<p>The same can be said for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.loverugbyleague.com\/club\/england\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">England<\/a> winger Young and Australia powerhouse Tino Fa\u2019asuamaleaui.<\/p>\n<p>Young and Fa\u2019asuamaleaui were sin-binned less than two minutes into the second Test on Merseyside for their leading roles in an early melee between the two sides following an altercation in a tackle involving Jez Litten.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" data-tmdatatrack-visible=\"true\">A statement confirmed: \u201cThe International Match Review Panel (Paul Cullen RFL, Luke Patten NRL) have reviewed Saturday\u2019s match and accepted all on-field decisions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" data-tmdatatrack-visible=\"true\">\u201cTherefore no incidents have been deemed sufficient to warrant further action under the international rules in operation for this series.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" data-tmdatatrack-visible=\"true\">Notably, full-back Walsh may not feature for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.loverugbyleague.com\/club\/australia\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Australia<\/a> at Headingley, anyway.
