\n\tLionsgate<\/a> has made a deal with Millennium Films to acquire rights to develop and produce all derivative works, including future film and TV productions, of\u00a0The Expendables<\/a>\u00a0franchise, as well as worldwide distribution rights to\u00a0John Rambo<\/a>, the upcoming sixth installment of the\u00a0Rambo<\/a>\u00a0film series.<\/p>\n

\n\tDeadline first reported that <\/a>Noah Centineo<\/a> would star in John Rambo and that Lionsgate was the front-runner to land the package. Sources now say that deal has closed. The mini-major will be selling the film at the upcoming American Film Market.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe wide-ranging agreement also makes Lionsgate lead studio and production partner with Millennium on all future Rambo\u00a0TV projects moving forward and includes the opportunity for the studio to participate in future\u00a0Rambo\u00a0films. In addition, Lionsgate now holds the rights to develop derivative works based on\u00a0Expendables, including derivative films and TV series, video games, immersive experiences and other cross-platform extensions of the action franchise which has grossed nearly $700 million at the global box office.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tLionsgate already distributes all existing\u00a0The Expendables\u00a0films in the U.S., Canada and the UK. In addition, the studio distributes\u00a0Rambo\u00a0(IV) and\u00a0Rambo: Last Blood\u00a0(V) in the U.S. and Canada, and holds UK distribution rights to\u00a0Last Blood. Lionsgate also distributes\u00a0First Blood\u00a0(Rambo I),\u00a0Rambo: First Blood Part II\u00a0and\u00a0Rambo III\u00a0across Latin America and Southeast Asia.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThe\u00a0John Rambo\u00a0film will introduce a new chapter in the franchise, with Centineo in final negotiations to take the title\u00a0role\u00a0and\u00a0Sisu\u00a0filmmaker Jalmari Helander set to direct.\u00a0Production is slated to begin next year in Thailand.<\/p>\n

\n\tJohn Rambo\u00a0will be produced by Millennium Media and Templeton Media, from a screenplay by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani (The Mauritanian,\u00a0Black Adam). Kevin King Templeton, Les Weldon and Jonathan Yunger will produce. Dallas Sonnier and Amanda Presmyk of Bonfire Legend executive produce.<\/p>\n
