{"id":242655,"date":"2025-11-04T04:34:09","date_gmt":"2025-11-04T04:34:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/242655\/"},"modified":"2025-11-04T04:34:09","modified_gmt":"2025-11-04T04:34:09","slug":"terrence-malick-may-never-release-wind","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/242655\/","title":{"rendered":"Terrence Malick May Never Release &#8220;Wind&#8221;?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>            <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/malicks-jesus-film-wind-is-going-well.jpg\" data-caption=\"Babelsberg Film\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"464\" class=\"entry-thumb td-modal-image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/malicks-jesus-film-wind-is-going-well.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"malicks-jesus-film-wind-is-going-well\"\/><\/a>Babelsberg Film<\/p>\n<p>A new feature in the British tabloids suggests Terrence Malick\u2019s very long-gestating Biblical epic \u201cThe Way of the Wind\u201d may never be released.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/films\/2025\/10\/31\/the-pot-smoking-jesus-film-we-may-never-see\/#comment\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Telegraph<\/a> (via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldofreel.com\/blog\/2025\/11\/3\/report-terrence-malicks-the-way-of-the-wind-may-never-be-released\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">World of Reel<\/a>) has done a new feature story titled \u201cThe Pot-Smoking Jesus Film We May Never See\u201d about the movie, which was shot back in 2019 under the name \u201cThe Last Planet\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The project was described as a \u201cbold retelling\u201d of the life of Jesus Christ and stars the likes of G\u00e9za R\u00f6hrig as Jesus, Mark Rylance as Satan, Matthias Schoenaerts as Peter, Leila Hatami as Mary Magdalene, Mathieu Kassovitz as John along with Joseph Fiennes and Ben Kingsley in supporting roles.<\/p>\n<p>The last major update on the film came two years ago from producer Alex Boden confirmed filming had been completed and Malick had been editing the movie since the pandemic kicked off.  They added that: \u201cTerry is very happy with what he is working on\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>81-year-old Malick, with his perfectionist tendencies, is known to take a long time to edit his films \u2013 but even the three years taken on \u201cTree of Life\u201d and \u201cA Hidden Life\u201d are nothing compared to the six years so far for \u201cThe Way of the Wind\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Malick is rumoured to have shot over 3,000 hours of footage, and in February this year, he reportedly said the film was \u201cnowhere near finished\u201d.   The report adds that the film has Jesus performing no miracles and smoking a lot of weed, while Rylance\u2019s Satan spouts monologues that span up to 28 pages of script.<\/p>\n<p>That said, Schoenaerts reportedly recently recorded a voice-over for the film earlier this month so it\u2019s not entirely stalled.
