A new UCI-sanctioned criterium is set to bring professional night racing back to the UK next year.\u00a0The City of London Nocturne, listed on the 2026 UCI calendar<\/a> as a\u00a0CRTP \u2013 Pro Criterium, will feature both\u00a0men\u2019s and women\u2019s elite races\u00a0on\u00a0Saturday 13 June 2026.<\/p>\n

According to the event\u2019s new website,\u00a0racenocturne.com<\/a>, Nocturne will be\u00a0\u201ca festival of bike racing in the heart of the world\u2019s most iconic cities\u201d, combining elite racing with live music, food stalls and a street-party atmosphere.<\/p>\n

The event appears to be a revival of the\u00a0Nocturne Series, the city-centre criterium that featured on the streets of London, Edinburgh and Copenhagen between 2007 and 2018, famed for blending elite racing with live music, food stalls and a festival buzz.<\/p>\n

It is understood that\u00a0James Pope of Koru Sports Group\u00a0\u2014 the company behind the UCI Track Champions League, the Revolution Series and the Global Bike Festival \u2014 is leading the project.<\/p>\n

The race\u2019s\u00a0CRTP\u00a0classification places it in the same UCI category as the\u00a0Tour de France Saitama\u00a0and\u00a0Singapore Criteriums\u00a0\u2014 officially recognised professional showcase events that do\u00a0not award UCI ranking points. These races are typically\u00a0invitational or exhibition-type competitions, attracting top-level riders and teams for a night of high-profile racing and fan engagement.<\/p>\n

While further details on route, format and invited teams are yet to be announced, the event\u2019s appearance on the UCI calendar confirms it will form part of an expanding portfolio of global urban cycling showcases produced by Koru Sports Group.<\/p>\n

For fans of domestic road racing, the return of Nocturne adds a dash of intrigue and international flavour to the 2026 calendar \u2014 a celebration of speed, lights and spectacle under the city skyline.<\/p>\n
