England’s Tommy Fleetwood was among those to congratulate James Morrison after the 40-year-old got his DP World Tour card back.\u00a0<\/p>\n
A tearful Morrison thought he was playing in his final tournament as a professional golfer last week at the HotelPlanner Tour’s Rolex Grand Final<\/a> in Mallorca.\u00a0<\/p>\n Morrison, a Tour veteran with more than 400 starts on the European-based circuit, needed at least a top-four finish to guarantee a return.\u00a0<\/p>\n And he did just that, finishing three shots clear<\/a> of Italy’s Stefano Mazzoli with his 13-year-old son Finley carrying his clubs.\u00a0<\/p>\n It meant he climbed more than 30 places in the rankings to end the season as one of 20 players to guarantee their return to the DP World Tour.\u00a0<\/p>\n Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n Victory came a year after Morrison endured a miserable season, missing 14 cuts and losing his full-time status for the first time in 15 years.\u00a0<\/p>\n He said before hitting a shot last week that golf was “not the be all and end all” and whatever happened it was going to be a “dream week” given his wife and son were there supporting him.\u00a0<\/p>\n Fleetwood, who is in field for the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship<\/a> this week, told the DP World Tour’s official website that he related to the moment so much.\u00a0<\/p>\n He watched the drama unfold with his wife Clare.\u00a0<\/p>\n Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n “Unbelievable,” said Fleetwood. “So, so happy for you. I think you’ve got a lot of words of wisdom but more importantly, [what an] unbelievably special moment for you and your family.\u00a0<\/p>\n “Me and Clare<\/a> were watching it on the couch and I said, ‘I can remember Finley being born’.
