ITV<\/a> soap Emmerdale recently confirmed three standalone episodes that focus on Robert Sugden<\/a> (Ryan Hawley<\/a>), Bear Wolf<\/a> (Joshua Richards<\/a>) and April Windsor<\/a> (Amelia Flanagan<\/a>).<\/p>\n Teenager April was drawn into the world of drug dealing earlier this year. It began because she wanted to help her boyfriend, Dylan Penders<\/a> (Fred Kettle<\/a>), out, but April was then added to the list of runners after losing a bag of drugs to a man who threatened her with a knife.<\/p>\n April and Dylan are now completing jobs for Ray Walters<\/a> (Joe Absolom<\/a>) under the impression that they are slowly clearing their debt. In reality, losing the drugs was all part of Ray\u2019s plan. There is no debt, but Ray uses this as a way to convince April and Dylan to keep dealing for him.<\/p>\n In a recent episode, April was taken to a hotel room with instructions from Ray to deal cocaine directly to a man called Tim.<\/p>\n Tim and April were alone in the room, and she was deeply uncomfortable when he started pouring some vodka. Tim encouraged her to drink it, and then asked her to take the cocaine with him. April was reluctant to do both, but she couldn\u2019t shake the feeling of not having a choice but to join in.<\/a><\/p>\n As Tim started to make things clear, he was sexually attracted to April, and she panicked and bolted out of the room. Leader of the drugs ring, Celia Daniels (Jaye Griffiths), <\/a>found her when she was back in the village, and held her hand as they went back to the B&B.<\/p>\n \t\t After Celia\u2019s approach that ultimately helped calm April down, her true side was exposed again. She explained to April that she doesn\u2019t really care that Tim made her uncomfortable, because the only thing that\u2019s important to her is getting the job done.<\/a><\/p>\n Celia reminded April of her debt and how she will not have a choice but to do as requested next time.<\/p>\n When next time came around, it ended in horror when April used a bottle to defend herself, accidentally killing her attacker and angering Celia and Ray.<\/p>\n As April remains trapped, dad Marlon Dingle<\/a> (Mark Charnock<\/a>) is completely unaware of what his little girl is going through.<\/p>\n \u2018She grew up, obviously, as a parent you anticipate them growing up and changing, but she has changed in a way that he doesn\u2019t have a dictionary for\u2019, star Mark Charnock explained to us.<\/p>\n \t\t \u2018He doesn\u2019t understand, he doesn\u2019t have the words in his soul, to understand or even begin to contemplate what she has been through and what it might have done to her. So her return [from living on the streets], whilst being the most monumental relief, is fraught with obstacles because I don\u2019t think anyone can really understand what they\u2019ve been through when they\u2019ve been through something like that.\u2019<\/p>\n Their relationship dynamic and how the dealing has impacted April\u2019s home life will be the focus of this special instalment of the soap, which is already available to watch on ITVX.<\/p>\n Metro has given more information here<\/a>, but beware, as it is packed with spoilers!<\/p>\n Ahead of the episode, Mark confirmed there will be a twist that will \u2018stagger the audience.\u2019<\/p>\n Reflecting on receiving the script and the filming of the scenes, he said: \u2018I was absolutely buzzing. It\u2019s thrilling, it\u2019s flattering to be trusted with an episode, and to work with Amelia in that way. It\u2019s an absolutely outstanding script; it\u2019s an absolute gift for an actor.<\/p>\n \t\t \u2018In a normal episode, there\u2019s about 15\/16\/17 scenes, and we did nearly all of them over a two-day period, so it was essentially in one location. It was really rewarding, really intense, given the nature of the story. There comes a point in it where you just kind of think, \u201cI hope this turns out as well as the script deserves\u201d. It was an incredible experience.\u2019<\/p>\n Explaining the setup of the episode, Mark added: \u2018April was going to come to a Halloween party with the rest of the family, but he doesn\u2019t turn up and he\u2019s really sad about it. So she turns up at the house, and he\u2019s on his own, and the episode begins. It\u2019s lovely, actually, with them rediscovering the younger version of her and how that was for them when she was really little.<\/p>\n \u2018The first act, if you like, is about him rediscovering his daughter, the daughter he knew before everything tragic that happened to her, and her rediscovering not only her dad but that part of herself too, so it\u2019s really something.\u2019<\/p>\n Full of praise for Amelia Flanagan, Mark smiled: \u2018I\u2019ve said it so many times now, she is a remarkable actress and she can summon emotion on the spot, she\u2019s got older and she does this thing now where you can see so much going on in her eyes as well as her voice and her physicality, she\u2019s got all the tools to carry on being a really quite brilliant actress.\u2019<\/p>\n \t\t \u2018I can tease it by saying things are going to get considerably worse before they get better and in this special episode, something happens that when I read it, it shocked me so much that I thought \u201cOh god, I wish I\u2019d known about it before I read it\u201d because it really threw me, it\u2019s just a great twist of drama\u2019, Mark added.<\/p>\n \u2018There\u2019s so much good stuff, and the great thing about this story is it impacts so many different people. Tony Audenshaw has been brilliant in it as well, as Bob, he has been superb, who\u2019s like a further circle away from the reality of it.<\/p>\n \u2018It\u2019s a storyline that keeps on giving \u2013 it\u2019s dark but in the best dramatic way that a story can be dark.\u2019<\/p>\n When asked what Marlon could do if he were to discover what Ray has been doing to April, Mark revealed: \u2018I think he could do something extraordinarily reckless, I truly believe that character would sacrifice himself for his child.<\/p>\n \u2018I think he could do something irrational that could cause everlasting damage.
