Concerns over a \u201clion\u201d roaming around Irish woodlands have been allayed by garda\u00ed, who have concluded the animal was actually a dog.<\/p>\n
A video circulated on social media and WhatsApp last week showed an animal that looked like a lion entering a wooded area.<\/p>\n
The sighting was reported to have occurred near Mountshannon, Co Clare, with some social media posts also linking the event to Kells, Co Meath.<\/p>\n
On Tuesday, members of An Garda S\u00edoch\u00e1na said that the sighting of a lion-like animal was a dog.<\/p>\n
Garda\u00ed from Killaloe concluded that the animal roaming around the woods was a Newfoundland breed, adding that the particular dog was named Mouse.<\/p>\n
They said the dog was \u201cdelighted with his recent viral video clip\u201d.<\/p>\n
