Residents were evacuated after a fire<\/a> broke out in a high-rise block of flats in Wythenshawe<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A large emergency services presence attended Brownley Court Road at 10.10pm last night (November 4), after a fire erupted on the eighth floor.<\/p>\n

Seven fire engines were sent out to the scene, plus specialist units from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS)<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Greater Manchester Police<\/a> also attended the incident.<\/p>\n

Smoke could be seen billowing from the window of an eighth-floor flat.<\/p>\n

A cordon was put in place around the flats, while crews checked properties on other floors of the building following the blaze, eyewitnesses said.<\/p>\n

There are not currently believed to have been any injuries caused by the fire, the Manchester Evening News understands.<\/p>\n

Investigation work is due to take place at the scene later today (Wednesday).<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for GMFRS said: \u201cAt around 10.10pm on Tuesday (November 4) seven fire engines from across GMFRS plus an aerial ladder platform and the air unit attended a fire on the eighth floor of a high-rise building on Brownley Court Road, Wythenshawe.<\/p>\n

“Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus evacuated residents using smoke hoods and extinguished the fire.<\/p>\n

“Crews worked to make the scene safe and were in attendance for around two hours and 20 minutes.”<\/p>\n

Police were also called out to a two-car crash on nearby Styal Road, close to Manchester Airport<\/a>, at around the same time last night.<\/p>\n

Styal Road was closed off in both directions. No injuries were reported from the collision, GMP said.<\/p>\n
