Canadian broadcaster CBC\/Radio-Canada are looking to explore participation in Eurovision.<\/p>\n

The Canadian government has stated in its 2025 budget document released earlier today that they are \u201cworking with CBC\/Radio Canada to explore participation in Eurovision\u201d.<\/p>\n

In the document, the section titled \u201cProtecting Our National Broadcaster: CBC\/Radio-Canada\u201d states:<\/p>\n

\u201cCBC\/Radio-Canada is part of our Canadian identity. Canada\u2019s new government is protecting our national broadcaster by ensuring it has the resources needed to modernise and better deliver for Canadians, and to continue providing vital programming in both French and English.<\/p>\n

Budget 2025 proposes to provide $150 million in 2025-26 for CBC\/Radio-Canada to strengthen its mandate to serve the public and to better reflect the needs of Canadians. The government will explore modernising CBC\/Radio-Canada\u2019s mandate to strengthen independence, and is working with CBC\/Radio Canada to explore participation in Eurovision.\u201d<\/p>\n

As an associate EBU member, CBC\/Radio Canada would require an invitation from the EBU to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest. Canada has a long-established interest in the Eurovision Song Contest, several Canadian artists have performed at the Eurovision Song Contest, and the nation twice participated in a Eurovision contest.<\/p>\n
