ITV<\/a> star Dr Hilary Jones has shared his co-star Lorraine Kelly<\/a>\u2019s true colours after working with the Scottish presenter for 35 years. The GP \u2013 who has just released his third fiction book, Under Darkening Skies \u2013 confessed the pair have read one another\u2019s work and explained what it is really like to work in close quarters with Lorraine.<\/a><\/p>\n

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, he said: \u201cOh she\u2019s lovely. Lorraine – people often say, \u2018What is Lorraine really like?\u2019 and I say she\u2019s exactly as she comes across. She\u2019s engaging, she\u2019s interested in people, she\u2019s genuine and she\u2019s great fun. I\u2019ve worked with her for over 35 years, and she\u2019s written her books as well, so we\u2019ve read each other\u2019s books.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lorraine isn\u2019t the only one to have read and enjoyed Dr Hilary\u2019s books. He also got high praise from The Chase star Shaun Wallace, explaining: \u201cOf course, people like Shaun Wallace<\/a>, I\u2019ve come across on The Chase<\/a>, a lovely guy \u2013 very well read. I read his book as well.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another star who provided a quote for Dr Hilary\u2019s book trilogy \u2013 which begins in WW1<\/a> and ends after WW2<\/a> \u2013 is prolific author Jeffrey Archer, who worked with him at ITV.<\/p>\n

Dr Hilary explained: \u201cInterestingly, we used to work with Jeffrey Archer, one of the pundits at ITV and he was coming in for a while. He said to me one day, \u2018I\u2019ve just seen a copy of your book, I really like it!\u2019 and I thought oh my goodness, coming from a bestselling author who has sold millions of books that\u2019s praise indeed. He was very helpful in doing a quote for my first book.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI wrote the books myself and obviously I got some advice from the editors I worked with which was good, but no I think I wrote it in my style. Jeffrey Archer famously said he does 14 drafts of every book \u2013 I didn\u2019t do 14! I did two or three drafts, but I really enjoyed it. I loved doing the research \u2013 I found out so much.\u201d<\/p>\n

Under Darkening Skies is the last book in Dr Hilary\u2019s World War series, and charts the discovery of penicillin \u2013 as well as the Allies\u2019 attempts to keep it from being used by the Nazis in the conflict. It wraps up the story of heroine Grace after the interwar years, following on from Frontline and Eye of the Storm.<\/p>\n
