While details remain scarce, the report indicates that KPop Demon Hunters 2 is slated to release sometime in 2029.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, creator-director Maggie Kang and co-director Chris Appelhans are set to return. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/film\/a-kpop-demon-hunters-sequel-is-in-the-works-3888211\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Plans for an animated sequel were being discussed<\/a> as early as August 28, just days after the original film\u2019s release.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3894838\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Kpop-Demon-Hunters.jpg\" alt=\"Huntr\/x in 'Kpop Demond Hunters'\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1270\"  \/>Huntr\/x in \u2018Kpop Demond Hunters\u2019. CREDIT: Netflix<\/p>\n<p>Released August 23, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/tag\/netflix\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Netflix<\/a> movie tells the story of a group of internationally renowned singers who lead a double life as demon hunters. It swiftly became a global phenomenon, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/film\/kpop-demon-hunters-is-now-netflixs-most-watched-film-of-all-time-3887942\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">becoming the most watched film in Netflix history<\/a>, and its success was bolstered by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/film\/kpop-demon-hunters-singalong-screenings-are-selling-out-everywhere-3886196\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">sing-along screenings held in cinemas, reportedly grossing around $20million (\u00a314.9million) in a single weekend.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Following the success of the film, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/film\/there-are-already-plans-for-a-kpop-demon-hunters-live-action-remake-3882356\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">rumours began circulating that a live-action remake is being considered<\/a> \u2013 the creator and director of the film, Maggie Kang, told the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/articles\/c8rvzmyyzmpo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">BBC<\/a> she doesn\u2019t like the idea. \u201cThere\u2019s so many elements of the tone and the comedy that are so suited for animation,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s really hard to imagine these characters in a live-action world. It would feel too grounded. So totally it wouldn\u2019t work for me.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Co-director Chris Appelhans agreed: \u201cOne of the great things about animation is that you make these composites of impossibly great attributes. Rumi can be this goofy comedian and then singing and doing a spinning back-kick a second later and then freefalling through the sky. The joy of animation is how far you can push and elevate what\u2019s possible.
