British heavyweights have so far come up short against Oleksandr Usyk<\/a>, but in 2026 another will get his chance. The question is: how will Fabio Wardley<\/a> fare against the undisputed champion?<\/p>\n

Since moving up to heavyweight in 2020, Usyk, 24-0 (15 KOs), has faced nothing but British opposition. Across seven fights, the Ukrainian maestro has took on Derek Chisora, Anthony Joshua, Daniel Dubois, and Tyson Fury \u2014 emerging victorious every time.<\/p>\n

Next year, Wardley, 20-0-1 (19 KOs), will look to finally put one on the board for Britain. The Ipswich man earned his shot after coming through the sternest test of his career against Joseph Parker<\/a>. Trailing on the scorecards, Wardley once again found a way, stopping the New Zealander in the 11th round at London\u2019s O2 Arena. The victory secured him the WBO Interim title and a crack at Usyk in 2026.<\/p>\n

One man Wardley could turn to for advice is Tyson Fury<\/a>. The \u2018Gypsy King\u2019 shared 24 absorbing rounds with Usyk in 2024, falling just short in his bid to dethrone his great rival.<\/p>\n

After witnessing Parker succumb to Wardley\u2019s power, Boxing King Media<\/a> caught up with Fury post-fight to ask whether he believes the Ipswich knockout artist has a chance against the masterful Usyk.<\/p>\n

\u201cListen, Usyk\u2019s a special talent. He\u2019s a good boxer. But listen, Fabio\u2019s a big dangerous puncher and I\u2019m sure if he hits anybody he\u2019ll knock them out. He\u2019s very strong and he carries his power for a long time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Should Wardley land his shot at Usyk<\/a>, he will start as a significant underdog.
