We already know that 28-year-old Sydney Sweeney underwent a rigorous training programme<\/a> while preparing for her role in the soon-to-be-released film Christy \u2013 a biopic about boxing legend Christy Martin. <\/p>\n

But now, having been empowered by the whole process, Sydney \u2013 who has previous experience in kickboxing and grappling \u2013 has revealed she would like to step into a real-life ring. <\/p>\n

Speaking to SportsCasting<\/a>, the 28-year-old, also known for her roles in Euphoria and Anyone But You, said she experienced a revelatory moment during filming where she thought \u2018Should I give it all up and fight because I love this?\u2019<\/p>\n

Although she had kickboxed and grappled before, Sydney told the publication that boxing challenged her in a completely new and different way. To master the unique movements, Sydney worked with boxing coach Matt Baiamonte and strength trainer Grant Roberts, who also trained Hilary Swank for Million Dollar Baby, the cult American sports drama about a female boxer. <\/p>\n

\u2018For about two and a half months, I would weight train in the morning for an hour, box three hours in the middle of the day, and then another hour of weight training at night,\u2019 Sydney told SportsCasting. <\/p>\n

She added that the physical changes she endured were difficult: \u2018I put on 35 pounds and it was hard. I started losing weight once I upped my boxing time and had to find that balance, just continually pounding more and more protein shakes<\/a>.\u2019<\/p>\n

And it was being fully immersed in such a training regimen that has made Sydney seriously consider stepping into the ring in the future, which the real-life Christy \u2013 who trained with Sydney and has said she wants to be her promoter \u2013 appears to wholeheartedly support. <\/p>\n

\u2018Christy said she\u2019d sign me up. So, this isn\u2019t as hypothetical as you actually think it is. Yeah, I\u2019d totally do a charity bout, that\u2019d be so sick,\u2019 added Sydney in the new interview. <\/p>\n

And Sydney’s secret weapons? Her left hook, she revealed, which she said she became obsessed with mastering \u2013 plus, being able to endure the punches thrown at her, too.<\/p>\n

\u2018I loved it. I worked hardest on that left hook,\u2019 she said. \u2018And I think what would get me through a fight is that I can take a punch. I wouldn\u2019t quit.\u2019<\/p>\n

Christy will be released in UK cinemas on November 28.<\/p>\n
