\n Brunel House in Corsham was inspected in October and found to have made significant improvements in care standards, governance, and staff training after a change in management that began in January.\n<\/p>\n
\n The home, which provides nursing and personal care for adults over 65 and includes a dementia-specialist unit, had 57 residents at the time of inspection.\n<\/p>\n
\n Xam, the house manager, said: “After nearly 13 years, we are proud to share that Brunel House has finally achieved an Overall Good rating – a milestone that means a great deal to our residents, families, and staff.\n<\/p>\n
\n “The new leadership team has worked tirelessly to improve standards, strengthen care delivery, and foster a culture of excellence throughout the home.\n<\/p>\n
\n “When the CQC came in, we were ready \u2014 calm, confident, and united as a team. I honestly couldn\u2019t be prouder of what we\u2019ve achieved.\n<\/p>\n
\n “The moment we heard the outcome, there was such joy across the home. Staff were smiling, some even had tears in their eyes.”\n<\/p>\n
\n The CQC used a new hybrid inspection model during its visit, involving seven inspectors over two days.\n<\/p>\n
\n The home received its final report within just two weeks.\n<\/p>\n
\n The report noted that previous concerns about early-morning care and management were unsubstantiated.\n<\/p>\n
\n Inspectors noted improvements in risk management, care planning, and incident reporting.\n<\/p>\n
\n Daytime staffing levels were considered sufficient, though night staffing was still under review.\n<\/p>\n
\n The report highlighted effective governance systems, improved electronic care plans, and positive links with healthcare professionals.\n<\/p>\n
\n The environment required some maintenance, but action was already underway at the time of inspection.\n<\/p>\n
\n The report also included positive feedback from residents who praised the level of care they received.\n<\/p>\n
\n Xam said: “When I started as Manager in February 2025, I had one clear goal \u2013 to bring Brunel House out of Requires Improvement and achieve Good.\n<\/p>\n
\n “It\u2019s been a long journey, but with the right support, the right people, and a shared belief that we could do it \u2013 we did.\n<\/p>\n
\n “This result means so much because it\u2019s not just a rating; it\u2019s proof of how far we\u2019ve come.\n<\/p>\n
\n “It\u2019s the first time in Brunel House\u2019s history that we\u2019ve achieved this, and I\u2019m beyond proud of every single person who made it happen.\n<\/p>\n
