The comedy star has entertained many millions of fans over recent weeks – now he will reap the benefits of clinching the \u00a387,500 prize for charity<\/p>\n

Alan Carr is set to reap the rewards of winning The Celebrity Traitors<\/a> with a raft of new TV offers that could even see him as a new host of Strictly Come Dancing<\/a>. The comedian already fronts series including the BBC<\/a>\u2019s makeover show Alan and Amanda\u2019s Greek Job, quiz Picture Slam, ITV<\/a> sitcom Changing Ends plus he has signed up for the second run of Amazon Prime Video\u2019s huge hit Last One Laughing.<\/p>\n

But thanks to his stellar performance on Celebrity Traitors, he is now being considered as a replacement for Strictly\u2019s outgoing Claudia Winkleman<\/a> – and there are also rumours that his former long-running Channel 4<\/a> series Chatty Man could return.<\/p>\n

One source said: \u201cAlan\u2019s comedy talents were showcased perfectly in the Traitors<\/a> castle and it\u2019s reminded many people just how funny he is. Even people who claimed they didn\u2019t like him before have loved watching him laugh and lie his way through the episodes. It would be no surprise if Chatty Man now got a reboot – not necessarily on Channel 4 – and the Beeb could do way worse than letting Alan loose in the ballroom. He\u2019d be a hoot.\u201d<\/p>\n

The finale was filled with shocks, first with Traitor Cat Burns being voted off thanks to a change of heart from Joe Marler, and then Joe also being shown the door after Nick Mohammed got cold feet about him at the last minute.<\/p>\n

Viewers saw Alan burst into tears as he won the prize, telling them: \u201cI\u2019m so sorry, it\u2019s been tearing me apart.\u201d Speaking afterwards the comic, 49, said he couldn\u2019t help the outpouring of emotion at the very end as he was revealed as a traitor to losing faithful Nick and David Olusoga.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think all the deceit, the lying, the murdering of Paloma and Celia had all taken its toll and then I think it dawned on me that I had won such a huge amount for my charity, Neuroblastoma UK,\u201d he explained. \u201cHopefully when people see how upset I was they won\u2019t feel so bad that I killed all those national treasures.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said that when he told the charity the good news about his \u00a387,500 win they were overwhelmed. \u201cI told one person at the charity and they started crying, so that gives you some idea of how important this money will be to them. Neuroblastoma is such a cruel disease, and this money will literally save lives. It\u2019s a charity and disease that no one has really heard of so with the viewing figures being what they are it\u2019s going to be so good for the charity.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said that his non-stop comedy was behind his win. \u201cHumour was my secret weapon in the castle,\u201d he declared. \u201cI would often deflect scrutiny and make a gag about something which would then throw everyone off the scent. My sense of humour was probably more useful to me than a shield.\u201d<\/p>\n

And Alan admitted that he couldn\u2019t believe he got away with two murders in plain sight – first Paloma Faith and then Celia Imrie<\/a>. \u201cSpouting Shakespeare at the dinner party was so not me that I thought it would\u2019ve been a red flag to the faithful – but at breakfast no one mentioned it,\u201d he laughed. Alan said he\u2019d also loved the reaction of the audience since the show began last month. \u201cThe memes have been so funny, I\u2019ve loved them all. Someone did a song which included all my Traitors quotes – it\u2019s quite catchy actually and I think it should be entered for Eurovision.\u201d<\/p>\n

In terms of advice for future players, Alan confessed he had no idea what his game strategy had been. \u201cAlthough I won, I don\u2019t know if I was a really good Traitor or if the Faithfuls were just useless.\u201d<\/p>\n

Yesterday Cat, 25, claimed her downfall came about because she was the last woman standing – and the others believed there would be a female among the traitors. \u201cIn hindsight, I think if we didn\u2019t banish Kate (Garraway) before, I probably would have had a chance as there would have been two women left,\u201d she told BBC Breakfast.<\/p>\n

Alan was last seen interviewing A-listers on Chatty Man back in 2016, before it ended after 16 series. At the time he said this was due to the difficulty of securing three guests an episode across a 30-week run, while competing with ITV\u2019s Jonathan Ross<\/a> and BBC1<\/a>\u2019s Graham Norton.
