A member of the National Democratic Congress<\/a> (NDC) communications team, Hamza Sayibu Suhuyini, has described President John Dramani Mahama<\/a>\u2019s proposed ‘Big Push’ infrastructure agenda as a transformative policy capable of significantly boosting Ghana\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n

Speaking on JoyNews AM on Friday, November 7, 2025, Suhuyini said the policy6, which prioritises road construction and rehabilitation, deserves national attention and support due to its potential to improve transportation and agricultural productivity.<\/p>\n

According to him, poor road networks across several agricultural communities continue to hinder farmers from transporting their produce to market centres, leading to post-harvest losses and reduced income.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe cannot discount the economic importance of many of these roads that President Mahama seems to be interested in. The poor nature of our road network has made it difficult for farmers to cart their goods to productive centres,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Suhuyini noted that Mahama has a proven track record in infrastructure development from his previous tenure, a period during which he said the former president was credited with transforming Ghana into a \u2018construction site.\u2019<\/p>\n

He urged Ghanaians to monitor the implementation process to ensure accountability and prevent the initiative from becoming another unfulfilled political promise.<\/p>\n

Suhuyini appealed to civil servants to demonstrate greater commitment to transparency and value-for-money in executing government-funded projects.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe must beat down the tendencies of corruption and inflation when it comes to many of these projects so that we can realise the needed benefits associated with that investment,\u201d he indicated.<\/p>\n

He further called on the media to play an active role by regularly visiting project sites and reporting on progress to enable timely interventions where challenges arise.<\/p>\n
