The Celtic fans\u2019 protests towards the board coincide brilliantly with John McGinn signing a new Aston Villa contract. <\/p>\n

How Celtic<\/a> dealt with trying to sign McGinn<\/a> in 2018 is just one of many examples of how those in suits aren\u2019t fit for purpose. <\/p>\n

After those extra millions weren\u2019t put on the table by Celtic to Hibernian, the man dubbed \u2018better than Zidane\u2019 has forged an outstanding career with Aston Villa in the Premier League. <\/p>\n

Only last season, McGinn faced Celtic in the Champions League<\/a>, and unintentionally aided the Hoops\u2019 first goal in their 4-2 defeat at Villa Park. <\/p>\n

But the boyhood Celtic fan still has unfinished business at Villa. <\/p>\n

McGinn once shared that Henrik Larsson is his hero<\/a>, and he didn\u2019t even rule out playing for Celtic one day when speaking about the matter last season.<\/p>\n

But at the age of 31, McGinn has just signed a new Aston Villa contract that takes him until 2028, and he has now made a vow that could all but end any chances of him representing Scotland\u2019s most successful club<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Speaking to The Guardian<\/a>, the Scotland international stated that he is determined to end Villa\u2019s wait to win a major trophy \u2013 they are favourites to win this season\u2019s Europa League \u2013 and he is willing to go until he is \u2018even 40\u2019 to make it happen. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been an amazing journey and I have achieved so much, but everyone knows what would eclipse what we have already achieved,\u201d McGinn says, alluding to Villa\u2019s near 30-year wait for a major trophy. <\/p>\n

\u201cIf it takes me until I\u2019m 37, 38, or even 40, I\u2019m just so determined for that to happen. Aye, hopefully the best is yet to come.\u201d<\/p>\n

What McGinn said last season about playing for Celtic<\/p>\n

Back in November, ahead of Villa facing Celtic in the Champions League, McGinn jumped on the Premier Sports Podcast.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s where a Celtic fan asked him about playing for the champions one day, and he didn\u2019t rule it out. <\/p>\n

\u201cGreat question, cheers for that,\u201d said McGinn. \u201cI wasn\u2019t expecting that on a Monday night. You never say never, obviously. When I was young, all I dreamed about was playing for Celtic.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t ever see myself playing for Aston Villa, but life happens, football changes, and I\u2019ve got two and a half years left to go at Villa.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhether that sees me off or I\u2019ve still got some left in the tank (it remains to be seen).\u201d<\/p>\n
