Artificial intelligence, he said, \u201clike all human invention, springs from the creative capacity that God has entrusted to us,\u201d and therefore, \u201ctechnological innovation can be a form of participation in the divine act of creation.\u201d<\/p>\n
Such creativity, the Pope continued, carries \u201can ethical and spiritual weight, for every design choice expresses a vision of humanity.\u201d<\/p>\n
For this reason, he urged those working in the field to \u201ccultivate moral discernment as a fundamental part of their work\u2014to develop systems that reflect justice, solidarity, and a genuine reverence for life.\u201d<\/p>\n
An ecclesial and collaborative mission <\/p>\n
Pope Leo XIV pointed out that this commitment cannot be confined to laboratories or investment portfolios. \u201cIt must be a profoundly ecclesial endeavour,\u201d he said, noting that the building of ethical AI systems \u201cillustrates the dialogue between faith and reason renewed in the digital epoch.\u201d<\/p>\n
He encouraged participants to see their work as a shared mission to place technology \u201cat the service of evangelization and the integral development of every person,\u201d highlighting that each initiative\u2014whether in education, healthcare, or digital storytelling\u2014contributes to this common goal.<\/p>\n
