Wolves arrived in west London bottom of the Premier League and without a permanent head coach after the departure of Vitor Pereira last weekend. Yet the visitors managed to frustrate the Blues during a first half we dominated without making the breakthrough. <\/p>\n
It was a different story in the second period as Malo Gusto<\/a> headed home his first goal for the Blues, and Joao Pedro<\/a> and Pedro Neto<\/a> also struck to ensure we claimed all three points to move up to second in the Premier League table. <\/p>\n The three-goal margin of victory was reflective of the control Maresca’s side had throughout. <\/p>\n ‘We are happy with the performance,’ the Blues head coach explained. \u2018I was very worried before the game because these are always tricky matches, but in the first half and second half, we created so many chances and didn\u2019t concede anything. <\/p>\n ‘Even in the first half, I was happy with the performance, and the difference between the first and second halves is that in the second we scored goals and in the first we missed many chances.’<\/p>\n \u2018You need to be clinical, otherwise the game is always open and anything can happen. In the second half, we scored three goals, could\u2019ve scored more.’ <\/p>\n Gusto opened his Chelsea account in his 98th outing for the Blues, and the France international’s delight was evident in his celebration with his team-mates. <\/p>\n ‘Finally,’ Maresca initially joked when asked about the full-back’s first goal in blue. \u2018Malo was close so many times and we like full-backs attacking and arriving inside the box. <\/p>\n ‘Last year, it [scoring goals] happened many times with Cucu (Marc Cucurella<\/a>). Tonight, Malo scored to help the team because that goal opened up the game a little bit. So we are very happy for Malo.’ <\/p>\n There was concern during the first half that Moises Caicedo<\/a> had suffered an injury, with the Ecuadorian international spotted limping at one stage. He went on to complete the game and Maresca said there as no need for concern. <\/p>\n \u2018He was ok, just a kick in the first half in his knee,’ the Chelsea boss said. ‘But he finished the game and I asked him after the game and he was ok. <\/p>\n
